Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles’ First Week Blu-Ray™ and DVD Sales Slice Their Way to Become the #1 Performing Home Entertainment Title of All 2014 Blockbusters

The fun-filled and action-packed blockbuster from Paramount Pictures and Nickelodeon Films, TEENAGE MUTANT NINJA TURTLES, packed a major punch with phenomenal sales during its first week of release on Blu-ray™ and DVD. Among all films theatrically released in 2014 that earned more than $100 million at the box office, TEENAGE MUTANT NINJA TURTLES has the highest ratio of disc sales to theatrical ticket sales for its first week of release. Produced by Michael Bay with Platinum Dunes, the film has earned over $478M to date at the worldwide box office.

Packed with jaw-dropping action and special effects and loaded with the franchise’s signature humor, TEENAGE MUTANT NINJA TURTLES is fun for the whole family. In the eye-popping reimagining, the legendary heroes in a half shell take on the sinister Shredder to defend New York City with the help of intrepid reporter April O’Neil (Megan Fox).

The TEENAGE MUTANT NINJA TURTLES Blu-ray Combo Pack includes loads of behind-the-scenes footage and interviews and limited quantities come with two reversible masks featuring all four signature colors of the beloved crime-fighters (while supplies last). Select retail outlets also are offering exclusive versions of the Blu-ray with collectible packaging, premiums and more.

Director David Green (“EARTH TO ECHO”) will take the helm of the next installment in the film franchise, with Michael Bay set to produce alongside his Platinum Dunes partners Andrew Form and Brad Fuller, with Galen Walker and Scott Mednick also producing. Screenwriters Josh Appelbaum & André Nemec (“MISSION IMPOSSIBLE: GHOST PROTOCOL”) are again coming aboard to write the sequel and will also Executive Produce. The sequel will be released in theaters on June 3, 2016.

Call me a hater all you want but I refuse to believe this.

Normal and understandable that that they're going to make big statements like this, a company is not going to speak badly about their products, but self-aggrandizing language like that is rarely too believable.

It was ok, it had it's good/modestly decent points, but it was not nearly the "omg a double rainbow"-level of omg-ness the company is bound to make it out to be. Blinded by the numbers falling into their bank account, ignoring that not every dollar means it was a spectacular job and that some of it is simply 'because Turtles' for better or for worse.

I'm glad it sold extremely well, It shows how powerful TMNT is

Why would you be glad about that?
All the company cares about is money. The sequel won't be an improvement. They'll just continue sodomizing the franchise.

I care because, TMNT is back in the public spotlight.

But in the wrong way.

Nope in the right way, TV, Movies, Video Games.

TV Show this season has really been picking up, a couple of TMNT games were released this year, and the movie was a box office success, I don't care what the critics say.

Happy that it was a success. TMNT 2014 could've been a lot better but happy for the franchise as a whole that it was a success. Call me a crazy optimist but I do believe the sequel will improve upon the first. Diff director brought on board and I do think the guys realize they got away lucky with the success of the first.

you know what this movie shows Hollywood...that fans of this franchise are dumb and dont care as long as 4 green guys in multi colored masks show up on screen

Exactly. The Transformers films are proof of this. They may make a buttload of cash, but they still suck.

Wow, they are really grasping for straws here. All in all, I bet Frozen is still the top selling entertainment entity of 2014.

Look, this is Paramount. They are notorious for flubbing data for some ridiculous bragging rights. Just look up Transformers Revenge of the Fallen and Puerto Rico.

What's that mean exactly? The number of ticket sales equals the number of home video sales?

It means that they have the highest ratio of DVD sales compared to ticket sales. It means absolutely nothing. Just Paramount being Paramount.

I mean, it's not only those who are head over heels in love with it that buy it. There's also those who were "ok" with it and decided to own it, those buying it based on certain aspects and not necessarily others, the casual viewer who simply likes exploding 'popcorn movies,' Bay movie fans, those who like Turtles anything no matter what it is, completionist collectors who weren't fond of it but cringe and hand over the money, people who didn't see it in theaters but decided to buy it, people who gave it as a gift because someone they know likes TMNT, people who like one or more of the actors, people who wanted one of the exclusive items enough (like that Raph statue) to go for it, people who wanted a Turtles coaster.
