Are the Kraang a hivemind?
Because it sure seems like it.
Only high-ranked Kraang like Prime and Subprime seem to have their own personality. So if they are a hivemind the key to defeating them all would just be defeating Kraang Prime. Thoughts? |
A hive mind implies they can read each others thoughts and no what they're all thinking at the same time, but that clearly isn't the case. The Kraang who are attacked don't know what's happening with the other Kraang
|
They might have a sort of limited hive mind telepathy within their ranks or whatever group they're in.
|
No....they seem to have a bit of individuality.
Some want to lose weight! and they don't all seem to get along :D Remember: "In Kraang's face!" |
Hive mind N.
1. A group of people who act or think in unison as if they are all the same individual. 2. A group of people who think the same thoughts as and/or carries out the objectives of either one Leader or each other. The Kraang all follow Kraang Primes desire to take over the world and make it into a new Dimention X. None of them stop to question why they are taking over the Earth, or what do they have to gain by doing so. Yes they all have some individuality, but largely they all think and act the same. But they are vain and some seem to have a fascination for human technology |

Not necessarily a hive mind but it's clear there's hardly any unique Kraang, most of them talk the same, look the same, act the same, have the same opinions etc.
It's possible they are individuals but they don't grasp what that means, nor do they seem to understand the value of individuality. |
Good theory, they act close enough to a hive mind concept but seem to sway away from it from time to time as others have mentioned great examples.
|
Maybe they only act hivish when there a lot kraang but when there only a few in a given area then the connection is weak. It might be a reason why they act so stupid at times.
Perhaps the need to conform and to stay connected is addicting like people constantly checking their twitter page. If you are part of something big then you feel big but if not that you are just a tiny speck in giant sandbox with no idea of what will happen next. :( If they were a true hive then they would have know right away that time when Raph was stuck in a kraang body. Perhaps it just a one way connection and it only comes from Kraang Prime. Makes more sense, no? |

Pretty much. They all talk the same and share the same ideals.
|
They don't seem to have so much a hive-mind as a limited mental-connection to Kraang Prime itself. Kraang Sub-Prime was certainly an individual, and even had a different voice. Some other Kraang also express individual personalities to some degree, and NONE of them seem to have any kind of telepathy with one another- only to Kraang Prime. They also have varying degrees of intelligence, apparently, as some seem to "get it" better than others. So, no, not a hive-mind so much as a highly integrated society based around a common goal- much like some alien races in Star Trek or Star Wars. (Jawas, Tuskans, Romulans, Forerunners, etc....)

if you wanna see a real hivemind look up the geth from mass effect. (or see the vid XD) though do hiveminds need a queen? |
Or the Borg, or the Bugs from Starship Troopers, or The Xenomorphs, or.... Some fantasy hive-mind races include D&D Aspis, Aboleths, and Spawn of Kyusks. (All fun critters to encounter, to be sure!)
Kraang seem more like the Covenant from Halo or Githyanki from D&D, actually. The Githyanki are actually very similar in that respect, having mild psychic abilities, a clear hierarchy, and a leader who is absolute, as well as individual personalities, but very similar appearances. |

Generally, yes. It's not a "hive" without one, really. It's why the Borg in Star Trek can't function on their own without one- unless, like "Hugh" or Seven-of-Nine, they have been "disconnected/unassimilated". This is the biggest reason I don't see the Kraang as a hive mind- they can still function perfectly well on their own. |

I don't think so. But there's not time to deeper explore the personality of every Kraang.
|
Meant to post this earlier, but I forgot all about it,
The Kraang (or TCRI) logo also looks like a honeycomb pretty much, Kraanguminati confirmed. |
