Does Fishface feel redundant now?

Ever since Dogpound became Rahzar and Tiger Claw showed up, Fishface has been "just there" for the most part. With Bebop and Rocksteady here, he'll feel even more redundant.

I remember saying Fishface might get double mutated to become Armaggon, but I'm guessing that's not going to happen.

I think the writers aren't sure what to do with Fishface at this point since he's just become another lackey.

Amaranthus 02-01-2015 09:57 AM

I always thought Fishface would be a perfect ally for Old Hob if he'd ever show up.

Not sure about redundant, but feel like he'll prob end up lowest in the pecking order, with so many over him now, and may not stand for it well. Add a bit if turbulence to Shredder's control over his minions maybe.

And Rahzar and Tiger Claw both seem to dislike him.

He seems to hold himself quite well against Anton (Bebop) in today's episode.

Electric 02-01-2015 10:27 AM

He definitely seems the lowest in command. I've always thought that if one of his minions was going to turn on him/leave itd be xever. Or maybe get un mutated.

Retromutated could be an interesting option. Using it to sway him into a choosing a different path having a somewhat distant vague alliance with the Turtles the way Slash sort of does now.

Or, if he's bad to the core, then maybe he'll jump ship and end up with Newtralizer or whoever.

I would love to see Fishface retromutated. They improved Dogpound by making him Rahzar and giving him the incredible new look, but Xever was a threatening character before. He could have just stayed Xever and he would still be just as effective.

Yes. They might as well have him reverse his ways and join the Turtles side, because he really doesn't seem to be of any importance to Shredder or the Krang. He's nothing but an expendable footsoldier now.

Candy Kappa 02-01-2015 12:31 PM

I hope he joins Hun and the Purple Dragons and sever the gang's ties to the Foot Clan

Indeed. Plus he'd be the perfect guy to do a face-heel-turn, since many of us already seem to feel bad for the guy and he has little left to contribute. I'm wondering if it's because he's a fish mutant that he doesn't seem to be as cool to use as the heavy hitters? It always struck me as odd that they'd keep Bradford 'upfront' but relegate him to the background. Alo lowering him to the level of 'food' with Tigerclaw and (maybe) Rahzar, which would be pretty demeaning.

I also liked the idea being tossed around that Xever has ties to Angel and he has to get out of the gang to protect her.

He's definitely under-utilized... feels like a waste of a good character. What we did get to see of him was really interesting; it's a shame he's been shoved off to the side in favor of shoe-horning in more characters.

Ditto to this. I'd personally love to see him a s a semi-ally/rogue element with the turtles. Though that idea of him rejoining the Dragons and Hun sounds really cool. He could be Hun's main enforcer, or even the "power behind the power" kind of character, giving Hun advice and running things behind the scenes.

Powder 02-01-2015 04:30 PM

Unfortunately, yes. I'm hoping he one day gets his humanity back & becomes morally ambiguous. If he remains a baddie as a human, put him in the Purple Dragons.

ToTheNines 02-01-2015 04:49 PM

Yeah, I say either double mutate him into something wicked cool or demutate him and put him with the Dragons.

The Kung Fu fan in me would just love to see the Bruce Lee homage team up with the Jim Kelly homage lol.

drgon78 02-01-2015 06:31 PM

I agree, ether demutate him or double mutate.

Seems like the popular opinion, and I don't disagree.
Not a fan of his current state anyway. Double mutate him into this half bionic fish beast and have him become a badass all the way, or have him de mutate and join the purple dragons.

Bry 02-01-2015 08:58 PM

Yes, but he's not alone there. The more recurring hench-mutants that are introduced, the previous ones are going to get less focus and the cast is gonna get overly crowded. The '87 cartoon dealt with this by having new mutant characters pretty much make one appearance, maybe show up again once more down the line, and then get forgotten about. They were basically just an excuse to make more toys... as they still are, really. But storytelling in kid-centric cartoons has evolved quite a bit since then and is much more serialized and character-driven, so it's harder to just have characters disappear without addressing it in the story. And for characters who have a motivation to stick around, like the villains, the easiest solution to that problem is death. And there might be some apprehension to "go there" or take an interesting/useful character off the table entirely.

Kind of hoping they do "retire" some mutant characters soon, though, or de-mutate a few. Aside from the initial "ironic punishment" of Xever losing his legs, I enjoyed him a lot more as a human character.

neatoman 02-02-2015 01:12 AM

Well I doubt Fishface will get much character development now, but none of the henchmen get much to begin with.
