Renet

So I heard at some convention that Renet is going to be in this series. Any guesses on where the turtles might be going via time travel? I'm going to put my guess on turtles going to Japan to fight the Foot, years before Oroku Saki.

CyberCubed 02-06-2015 01:31 AM

They'll probably go to the prehistoric past first, since its easy to model CG dinosaurs.

MsMarvelDuckie 02-06-2015 01:40 AM

If they DO go to Japan, it will likely be in feudal times, like movie #3. And they might also go to the future, a la SAINW or the Easter episode with Hokum in the OT.

CyberCubed 02-06-2015 01:45 AM

I get the feeling we're going to get a Turtles in Time arc like IDW.

I'm hoping for a Feudal Japan arc that may explain how the rivalry and hatred between the Foot clan and the Hamato clan even started...if it goes back that far, I mean.

Ditto. That, & dinosaurs. Japan & the Prehistoric era are pretty much a given in any TMNT universe worth it's weight in pizza.

If they do, I hope it's not as an actual physical presence and is mainly mental/spiritual and that they can't interfere. Otherwise it risks opening up too many plotholes and such, or creating a paradox.

BubblyShell22 02-06-2015 08:04 AM

I'd love to see them go to Japan, and I'm sure they'll go to the prehistoric era. It's almost a given here.

Leonardo322 02-06-2015 08:10 AM

I also think the dinosaur era is going to happen. Thanks for reminding me and now that I think of it, I think the 2003 turtles visited the dinosaur era at least twice. Feudal Japan is probably where they will probably go as well. If I was making the show, I would add in a 1970's time travel era, maybe have an Enter the Dragon style episode where the turtles join a tournament and fight a young Oroku Saki and other various fighters in China. They could even recreate that room of mirrors scene, Shredder does have claws after all, so it would be similar.

I just hope they can pull off time travel properly.

The writers are only doing one arc from IDW. And it's loosely based on City Fall, but with a Dark Raph.

And by the way, Renet is going to be voiced by Ashley Johnson.

Ninturtle 02-06-2015 09:12 AM

I don't think the turtles will time travel as it will cost a ton of money to create new sets. If they do it will probaly take them a while to leave that time period, probably a few episodes

Ravenshell 02-06-2015 09:43 AM

Jurassic/Cretaceous eras and Medieval times (Europe or Japan) are almost a given... but if they were going to pick something new and different and not so trite, where and when would you want Renet to take the Turtles? (And what kind of havoc is this going to wreak on the timeline?)

I'm thinking Civil or Revolutionary Wars could be interesting settings... or maybe drop in on the Rennaissance and meet their namesakes.

I didn't mean its going to be like IDW's arc, I just said a Turtles in Time arc similar where Renet takes them to different time periods.

Here's another important question: Will we get a Renet toy this time?

YES!!! I'd SO love to see that happen. Maybe give them an appreciation for where their names came from, and maybe give them some new interests, too! I can certainly see Leo in particular wanting to consult with his namesake on military matters, since da Vinci created some of the earliest examples of tanks, subs, and airplanes or even helicopters. All of which he did under the patronage of leaders who wanted to use his ideas in warfare. For that matter, I could see Donnie picking his brain on various subjects, too.

Short answer: No.

Long answer: Not even likely, because according to Playmates thought line, first of, non mutant figures don't sell. Secondly, action figures of girls won't sell, because their target demographic doesn't want to be seen playing with a girl toy. Mind you, both of these points are utter bupkis, but that's their mentality, now, if we got a Renet figure, before a proper Karai, I think I would just assume it was a sign of the end times...

Why wouldn't they? The dimension hopping & flashbacks have been great, & combining the two more or less makes up time travel. So long as they have the budget to make some cool sets, I trust it'd be rad. The creative team is very good with twists & stuff, so there'd surely be some neat surprises in there.

CyberCubed 02-06-2015 07:19 PM

Doing prehistoric Earth is easy. All they have to do is make a jungle and some flat sand near the beach. Make a T-rex, a Triceratops, some raptors, a few pterodacyls and copy/paste them to make a bunch of them and that's the episode.
