Krang Questions
 

There were just a couple questions I had relating to Krang and wondered if anyone could answer them. :)

1. Why does Krang use the bubble walker sometimes? It doesn't look like it does much and his android body is much more powerful so why would he even need the bubble walker. Strangely he used his android body and at the end of the 7th season, when the technodrome was sent to Dimension X again, Krang still has his android body but during Season 8, he's without it and uses his bubble walker again? What happened to his android body. In the series he would go back and forth using the bubble walker and android body but it seemed kind of pointless to use the bubble walker.

2. Was Krang the main villain of the series? People think it's Shredder or that there really is no main villain and the two of them are working together and therefore the main villains? Who's actually in charge though? We never saw the outcome of their fight in Episode 5 of season 1 where both Krang and Shredder are stuck in Dimension X, and Krang blatantly says that he's his master now, and Shredder refuses to take orders. Who won that fight? Does Shredder really just take orders from Krang or is he his equal and neither are really superior to another? If Krang is the main villain, why does Shredder get mentioned more often than Krang when the Turtles are figuring out who's behind a crime? Krang isn't even in the intro or even mentioned, except during the red sky seasons where you briefly see Krang in the background.

They made toys of both the bubble walker and Android body, so most likely Playmates suggested to the writers to show him in the bubble walker for several episodes so people would buy the toy.

Shredder and Krang were the joint main villains of the show. Co-stars if you will.

It's hard to fit it in the modules so it's just easier. You know things are serious when Krang comes to the surface in the android. This was also referenced in "The Foot Soldiers are Revolting" when Shredder and Krang were stuck in that life pod.

That's true as I can see that they would want to sell both versions of Krang. But what I find strange is that why does Krang rarely fight the Turtles? He has that android body which is physically more powerful than Shredder as well as Bebop and Rocksteady, it's hands could shapeshift into weapons, communications equipment, ect. So how can someone with such a powerful body rarely fight? Instead he mostly stays behind and lets Shredder and the mutants do the work? I assume he's just lazy and only fights when there's no one else around or if they are too incompetent.

As far as them both being equals I could see that. To me it doesn't really seem to be a master/slave type of relationship like with Robotnik and Snively or Palpatine and Darth Vader. Shredder openly insults Krang and vice versa and they bickered. Not sure who would win an actual fight though since I don't think I've ever seen them actually fight each other. Shredder has been known to take down all 4 turtles in more than one occasion and Krangs' shown to be really powerful against the Turtles. I'd say they'd be more or less equal, unless Krang has that molecular amplification circuit that made him into a giant.

Krang is the mastermind and he wouldn't be as easily beaten as the others. Especially in Seasons 3-4 when Shredder was treated more of a slapstick villain and got beaten easily.

That, and Krang is a Warlord with a vast army of his own, all of whom are loyal to HIM. Shredder might command the Foot-bots, and Foot clan and thugs, but Krang was in charge of the tech and Dimension X troops. Being a military genius, no doubt he uses his "expendable" Earth resources (IE, Shredder, the goons, and such) FIRST, and his own Rock soldiers and what-not if need be. And only gets personally involved as a last resort.

From what I've could understand from watching the episodes, Krang didn't have to do any sort of fighting in the old cartoon - he left that to Bebop, Rocksteady, & Shredder.

Most of the time, Krang would stay out of skirmishes with the Turtles and *I assume* worked in the Technodrome and operated the pan dimensional portal. However, he did get into it with two of the four Turtles in an episode titled The Big Blow Out, and I think that he's fought against them on a few occasions since then.

ADDITIONAL MENTION - Thanks for reminding me Duckie. I have Turtles on Trial and yet I totally forgot that scene. :B

Yup. He has indeed. I remember that episode, and he also fought them in several others, notably in Turtles On Trial when he stole that military mech and fought in it. I loved that one for the fact that he was on the surface, as well as Mikey's giant improvised bolas. Great way to end a fight, LOL! And Krang getting his ganglion stuck in chewing gum was pretty amusing, too.... :trazz:

There was "Casey Jones: Outlaw Hero" where he used his Knucklehead machine, although he didn't really fight the Turtles too much in it and mostly just used it to destroy parts of the city. There was "The Big Break In" where he fought Michelangelo and Donatello. "Krangenstein Lives" was another but Krang himself didn't really fight the Turtles, his android body went berserk and did the actual fighting. He doesn't seem to fight the Turtles directly very often and when he does, he doesn't always use the android body. I hear it's a comic/cartoon thing where the more powerful a hero/villain is, the lazier they are. xD

2.krang must have won that fight because in the next episode shredder is begging krang to send him back to earth. while shredder is actually the main villain krang actually has more power than him. theres an episode where krang says he will be president and shredder can be vice president, shredder agrees and say "just a heartbeat away, not bad". and its probably hard for krang to move around to be able to fight the turtles himself, even with the big body hes too slow for them.

Correct on all counts, though I didn't name specific ones. Turtles On Trial was just the first one that popped into my head.

Very true, and I always took Shredder's "heartbeat away" comment to indicate some nefarious plot to assassinate Krang later. Since Vice-Prez gets the office if the Prez dies in office. And he IS a ninja, after all.... :twink:

I figure he'd do that after the Turtles were defeated. Unless Krang tried to get rid of him first. Since Krang is overall more powerful than Shredder, I'm sure Shredder wished he was in overall command and there were a few times where he could have left Krang at the mercy of the Turtles but still saved him anyway but I guess it's because the Turtles weren't defeated and knew he'd stand a better chance against them with his help, which is why he built the android body because he was so desperate to defeat the Turtles.

I figured Krang won the outcome of their little skirmish when they were first sent to dimension x. Shredder didn't really seem to stand a chance, even with his foot soldiers as Krang seems to be at least physically more powerful than Shredder, more brilliant and has his Rock Soldiers who are much tougher to defeat than the Foot Soldiers. I always wanted to see them fight because Shredder flat out refused to take orders from Krang and then in the next episode, you see him begging Krang to send him back to Earth. I just wish they went into more detail.

The funny thing is, Krang always seemed to have more of a sense of "honor" than Shredder did. He (mostly) honored his deals, played straight with underlings and enemies alike, and only backstabbed someone if he KNEW they were probably going to do the same to him or presented a future threat that he was best rid of quickly. But he would also do favors for others (like freeing Mikey in the Mouser episode) or warning the turtles or Shredder of some impending threat when he didn't have to. He was evil, to be sure, but not as outright treacherous as Shredder. With the possible exception of Berserko, but there was obviously some bad history there.

The Beserko thing really shows how traitorous he could be. He betrayed his co-worker only because he couldn't find any other use for him. He also destroyed his home planet as well, as he didn't want any of his relatives coming after him. He only freed Mikey because he wanted Shredder to fail over and over. He knew full well Shredder was never going to build his body unless Shredder failed over and over and become so desperate that he would have no choice but to give him his body. He even kinda betrayed Shredder towards the end, as he no longer wanted just a partnership with him in Episode 5 when they were sent to Dimension X. He said "In Dimension X, I am absolute master. You will do my bidding from now on."

All true, yet he was also more likely to treat underlings and associates as "equals" in terms of respect, and even had a sense of fair play in that he would often find ways to hamper Shredder's efforts just to watch HIM possibly fail, when he could have just as easily helped him against their mutual enemies. Like when he told Shredder he could only send two Foot soldiers to the sewer to help him retrieve the Medi-laser, when he knew DARN well the turtles could easily mop the floor with such a small force. It's like he WANTED them to win. I suspect he often did it just to annoy Shredder, and keep him chained to him.

But the odd thing was that he would occasionally just decide to make deals with outsiders or enlist their aid, and would then deal honestly and openly with them- like Lotus and Shredder's mom. Both occasions, he was actually being straight and fair with them, and appreciative of their help. He only backed out of his deal with Lotus AFTER Shredder had planted the idea in Krang's head that she had sided with the turtles, even though she hadn't. And then he simply called it off, because he claimed he couldn't trust her to fulfill her end anymore. He LIKED Shredder's mom, was courteous and respectful of her, and even let her run several of the Technodrome's weapons and defenses! And though he mainly did this to annoy Saki, it showed that he COULD deal with someone on an equal level and not try to backstab them.

Very true. Krang could deal with someone and respect them as equals unless they were a threat or he couldn't find any other use for them. As much as Shredder backstabs, even he has had his honorable moments, too. In Night of the Rogues, he was willing to share the treasure with Rat King, Leatherhead and the others after they defeated the Turtles and in Turtle Trek, he turned Gargon back to normal with the Retro Mutagen Ray after Gargon led the Turtles into a trap, when really Shredder didn't have to do that.

Most of those times were because Krang wanted to annoy Shredder. They'd both try to mess with each other really and always shown dislike for each other, only occasionally complimenting each other and agreeing on certain plans. Krang however never seemed to like his underlings, Bebop and Rocksteady, but then, nobody did due to their incompetence. One of the few underlings he did like was General Tragg due to his competence and loyalty.

I had forgot that he also betrayed his former partner in crime Shreeka. He left her and made off with her energy ring. Didn't explain why he did it but possibly out of greed or just wanted more power. Krang can be traitorous if he wants even for little reasons. He would go for outside help mostly because he thought Shredder was incompetent.
