How old were you when each major series of TMNT came out?
 

This thread is probably going to really date some people, and also show how young others are:

Mirage (1984) = I wasn't born yet, but I would be born the next year.

Original cartoon (1987) = I was about 2 years old.

1990 Movie (1990) = I was about 5 years old

2k3 series (2003) = I was 16-17 years old, and as a teen I was grabbed by it

Nick series (2012) = I was 26 years old.


You can do others if you like (the other movies, IDW comics) although they're pretty close in years to the other stuff which is why I didn't list them.

Damn some of us original fans are so old now. Although I think it says a lot that even 25-30+ year old adults are still interested in TMNT after so many years.

When TMNT were first born/sketched on paper I was 4. I had just turned 5 when the first issue was out, like less than two weeks prior (provided the release date I've seen is accurate). Heck, they were probably on the presses on my b-day.

1987 series - age 8
1990 move - age 10
Second move - age 11
Third movie - age 13
Second series - age 22
2007 - age 27
Current series - age 33

I would'a been 2 when Mirage came out, but all I cared about comics-wise was Superman and Batman back then, since my Dad would read those to me. None of the comics stores we went to back then carried the Mirage book so I was never exposed to it until way later on.

I was like 7 when I saw the cartoon. I wanted to hate it specifically because everyone else liked it. Go f***in' figure, huh. :lol: But I liked it anyway and here we are.

Almost 8, I think, when the movie came out. Obsessed with it right away. Probably my favorite Turtles thing.

I think I was like 13 when The Next Mutation came out? I remember being on the bus coming home from high school, and me and a few buddies talking about how we were gonna go home and watch the show because it was Turtles, even though we all knew it was a piece of sh*t. :lol:

Not quite 21 when the 2K3 show started. I was the only one of my circle of friends who grew up with TMNT who gave a sh*t enough to actually watch it. I might still have a bunch of episodes on VHS somewhere; I had to work a lot when it was on so I taped it religiously for a while.

About 25 when the CGI movie came out. Liked it but wasn't overly impressed with it. There's parts of it I still think work very well, but the movie as a whole isn't super impressive anymore. It's alright.

Almost f*cking 30 when the Nick show started. And I might be showing my age, but it just doesn't appeal to me the same way a lot of the earlier stuff did. I'd still rather go back and watch the older shows or read the Archie books than watch the Nick show. I mean it's not bad, it's just not great, and while I can "accept" a lot of stuff they do, none of it at all is anything I "want" to see, if that makes any sense. Like literally not one thing about it, is how I would have done it or asked to have it done. But hey, I ain't the guy makin' seven figures off it, so f*** do I know? :lol:

Fred Wolf: 3. Not sure exactly when I got into Turtles, but I know I was in the 3rd grade when it was huge and my teacher actually called out my 2 best friends and I as some sort of TMNT experts.

Barron's flick: Almost 6. I think I first saw it on VHS.

4Kids: Freshman in College. I remember my classmates and fellow nerds being really excited.

Nick: 28 and I wanna say just became a father. I remember seeing TMNT trailers on the hospital TV after either his birth or maybe it was his pyloric stenosis surgery.

Original cartoon (1987) = I was 4 years old on December 28th, 1987.

1990 Movie (1990) = I was 6 years old on March 30th, 1990.

2k3 series (2003) = I was 19 years old on February 8th, 2003.

Nick series (2012) = I was 29 years old on September 29, 2012.

I wasn't born until late 1992.

So I was 10 when the 4kids series came out and 19 when the Nick series came out.

Old, schmold heh. I was almost 10 when the Mirage TMNT first launched in May 1984. I first encountered it in 1989 when someone in my year at school went to the US and brought back a couple of the First Publishing graphic novels and I borrowed them to read. Needless to say I was hooked, wouldn't look the cartoon in the eye ever again, and had to get my own copies. Thankfully there was a comic store near to my school, and they had imported the books (this is prior to Penguin publishing them in the UK). You can pretty much pinpoint when I bought my copies from the version printing dates on the inside covers heh (I suspect September 1989).

Mirage (1984) - Wasn't born yet.

Original cartoon (1987) - Wasn't born yet.

1990 Movie (1990) - I was born in that year but in November. The movie came out in March. So still wasn't born by then.

2k3 series (2003) - I was 12 years old.

Nick series (2012) - I was 21.

PD (2014) - 23

Mirage- Wasn't born yet

1987 cartoon - I was born the year this show came out

1990 movie - 2 turning 3 years old.

TMNT 2: SotO - 3 turning 4.

TMNT 3 - 5 turning 6.

Next Mutation - 10 years old.

2003 series - 15 turning 16.

I kinda understand his fear. He's turning 30 soon, isn't he? And that means the 40s will hit him before he knows. And that's when one's health begins to deteriorate as does one's overall fitness. The older you get, the closer to death you are.

Maybe people like me and CC just overthink too much about this kind of stuff?

Mirage 1984 = I was 11 years old, But never read that comic

Original series 1987 = I was 14 years old, and it was my first exposure to TMNT.

1990 Movie = I was 17 years old when the 1st TMNT movie came out, I saw it on opening weekend.

1997 Ninja Turtles: The Next Mutation live action series = I was 24 years old when this show debut on Fox.

2k3 series = I was 30 years old when the 2k3 series debut on 4Kids.

2007 TMNT movie = I was 34 years old when the CGI movie debut at the theaters.

2012 Nick series = I was 39 years old when the Nick series debut.

2014 TMNT movie = I was 41 years old when the new movie debut.

I'm 42 years now, and I still enjoy TMNT to this day.

I guess I'm the oldest one here.

I have to ask, does turning 40 make you lose interest in fandoms? I mean a lot of us in our late 20's and 30's are thinking we're too old, but what about the 40 and over crowd?

Dunno. Haven't reached 40 yet.
