If you redesigned the Turtles, how would you want them to look?
 

This is how I would want to redesign the turtles, especially if they were going to make a version like the comic. I would basically have the Turtles look like their 1987 counterparts, as I feel the other versions like the 2003 versions are way too tall for teenagers. I would remove their belt buckles, remove their pupils but still keep their colored bandanas to tell them apart more easily. I'd get rid of the colored elbow arm and knee pads and replace them with the brown ones they have in the 2003 version

I'm going to be unimaginative here, but I really love the 2007 designs and the Nick designs. I love that the turtles are small with slightly disproportionate limbs, like they're still growing into their bodies. I also love that they are sleeker and more nimble looking than some other versions.

I think given the choice I would go for the 2007 designs with a few Nick influences to give them their own identities. Raphael's cracked shell and plastron, Don's beautifully imperfect teeth and Mikey's huge eyes. 2007 Leo was damn near perfect design-wise.

I'd always vote for coloured masks, no initialised belt-buckles, authentic knee and elbow pads and pupils.

I'd take the IDW/Nick versions, but mature them by a few years. Also incorporate a bit of personal bling for each Turtle. Tattoo or something for Raph, necklace for Mikey, something non-stereotypical nerd for Donnie (glaring at YOU Michael Bay), nothing personal or blingy for Leo. He'd be more no-frills austere when "on duty", if you will. Maybe give Don a small utility belt or something, I dunno...

OotS is a pretty solid design. Add tails and they are more or less perfect, for me as a turtle enthusiast and as a ninja turtle enthusiast.

I completely agree. I would want them with all red headbands.

Ooh yes! I change my vote! Out of the Shadows designs were amazing - they were believable as turtles.

My favorite all-time turtle image is the cover from the Mirage Collected Volume 2, by AC Farley. Just...the image of Raph perched all Batman'like on the edge of the building.

A version taking place in ancient Japan where they're guardians of the earth & raised by a monk (Yoshi).

4kids designs are basically perfect for me. Just add some dots for nostrils. Probably show their pupils since the white-eyes are impossible even though they look cool.

Giving them each a personal item would be good too. Not 2014 level but just something simple like the utility belt for Don and Raph tattoo mentioned before. I like that.

Don't know about Leo or Mike. Have to think about it.

I've always liked how they looked in later issues of the Archie comics. Honestly, if it ain't broke, don't fix it.

You got to admit it is a pretty cool situation that the turtles have endured so many different versions. It really gives depth to the franchise.

Yeah, pretty much, I like the nick faces, use bodies, and 2007 feet and clothes.

I'm actually a fan of the Next Mutation designs, at least in as far as the individualized bandanas and taped ankles/wrists. The overt musculature is a bit much, but a variation on those designs are kind of where I'd draw inspiration from.

For a TV series, I see the Nick 2k12 Turtles mixed in with the 2k7 film turtles. They’re masks are in their signature colors, but let’s say they originally wore red in the first 7-8 episodes. Their strands are shorter and only stop below the neck. I didn’t want them to have long ones that blew in the wind. While that sounds cool, I also think what would happen if they got stuck in a fan, propeller, or rocket. (If any of you get what I’m referring to there, you’re awesome). :tcool:
They will have three toes on each foot, just because they’ve always had six fingers. It makes sense now.

They will wear wrist and leg/feet bandages. I was thinking it would change every time, but for the majority, Leo would wear white, Don would wear white or tan, Mike would wear tan that goes brown because of dirt, and Raph might have white or tan, but they will look dark brown because he might have a lot more dirt and smudges all over. His will be the dirtiest.

Their height is like the Nick series, except Leo’s the tallest, Don is slightly taller than Raph, and Mike is still the shortest. He’s cute that way. Leo will have dark blue eyes, Mikey, of course will have sky-blue eyes, Don’s will be brown, but Raph will be more hazel colored. I just don’t see him with pine green eyes. Also, as much as I like Donnie with a gap in his teeth, here, he should have perfect teeth like the rest. They might live in the sewers, but they sure how to keep themselves healthy. Don’t just thank Splinter for that.



For a new movie (let’s say Joss Whedon’s Avengers meets Christopher Nolan’s Dark Knight), the turtles might look more like ninjas. They’ll be all dressed in black outfits that feature a symbol of a green turtle on the right side of their shirt or vest. Instead of masks, their signature colors will be shown by their fabric cloth belts. Also, they will all have something on them that represents their colors. Leo will have a blue scarf that transitions into a mask that covers his mouth and head, so to look like a ninja. Don would wear a purple scarf (probably to look like a Doctor Who character or Sherlock. Raph will have a red bandana that goes over his head, but not his eyes. He'll look like, maybe, like an 80s rock star such as Axel Rose. Mike will be the only one wearing a mask, but it will have no knot or strands. It will basically be a mask that can easily slip on.

So, Leo and Raph will be the tallest, but Donnie and Mikey will be of medium height. For eye color, Leo does have light blue eyes, while Mikey has sky-blue, like the 2k12 Mike. Don will have a more hazel tone to his, but this time, Raph will have brown. Don’t ask. That’s still in consideration. As far as their outfits go, I could go on forever with this one. But I won’t. So, I’ll give you the gist. Leo will wear all black spandex from his chest to his legs, with black knee pads. He’ll wear black tabi socks and boots with a sandal -like opening, so that way he look like a traditional ninja, but without real sandals. It would give him better support for running and jumping, as well. Don would not wear any shoes. Since I thought about him being the only sea turtle mutated, most of the time, he might do some swimming. He could wear shoes if he wanted to, but he feels fine on his own two feet. He does have black gloves that only reach up to his knuckles.

Raph will have a black vest that’s worn out and black pants pulled up to look like shorts. He’ll have white bandages wrapped around his wrists, but on his feet will be black work boots of some kind. He’ll basically have this rock-star quality to his ninja look. Lastly, Mikey is all over the place. He wants to be the trendsetter of the group, wearing not only an orange mask, but two wristbands in blue and red (maybe to represent Leo’s bravery and Raph’s strength). He’ll wear worn out black gym shorts, mostly because he sees himself as very athletic. Instead of boots or ninja shoes, he wants that human look. While it annoys his brothers, Mike doesn’t mind wearing white crew socks up to his ankles and some sleek Chuck Taylor sneakers. He just wants to be cool that way.
