So who else is ready to celebrate IDW's 50th issue milestone?

With issue 50 coming out in a month its hard to believe IDW has hit its first big milestone. As someone who followed the series since 2011 when it debuted its hard to believe the series is 4 years old already.

IDW was also the first new TMNT universe since Viacom/Nick bought the TMNT IP, and as such it had a lot to prove by being the first new post-Mirage TMNT series. We didn't know what to expect, if the TMNT license was in good hands or not, or if the series would be successful.

Many of the changes IDW made to the characters have been well received and they've successfully reinvented old characters with new takes. Some of the new characters like Old Hob have become some of the most popular characters in TMNT history already. With issue #50 being a huge climax to the first 4 years of the series its going to be quite the event. And to think afterward we get to see the TMNT crossover with the legendary Batman, something that was nothing more than a pipedream in the minds of fans. Its quite exciting.

Congrats IDW on the big issue 50! Let's hope we hit the big #100 next!

I'm so excited for the 50th issue to come out! I've been following the series since the beginning, and have been a fan of the turtles for as long as I can remember. In my mind, IDW's TMNT is the best iteration of the franchise thus far. It's even more exciting because as the TMNT end a chapter in their lives in the comics, I'm ending a chapter in mine as well. Between the release of #50 and #51 I will be beginning a new career and getting married, so it's really fun that the TMNT will hit a huge milestone right as I do as well.

I'm only on issue 7, but I've seen the previews, and I love the art! Happy 50, IDW TMNT! :mango::mango::mango:

I'm excited :thyper: it's going to be very interesting to see how everything plays out, especially with those beast mode freaks Bebop and Rocksteady. Besides other random Mirage and volume 3 stuff, this is the only comic I have ever read and I'm expecting the final battle to be ridiculously awesome. Now if we can only get some comic style action figures :tgrin:

I would kill for IDW comic action figures!

I'm absolutely losing my mind with impatient anticipation!!!! They even managed to fit in Leatherhead before the 50th issue!

Now all's I need is Bishop. :trazz: Well, and Donny in his body again... :tsad:

I know I am! To me, this is the best iteration of TMNT. I know that's just an opinion, but it's mine, and I respect other points of view. I like pretty much everything IDW has done with the property. I think it took a few issues for them to hit their stride but since then everything has been great (although not so much the Casey & April mini; it had a good premise but I feel like the execution was lacking).

I can't wait to see how the Gauntlet battle plays out, what Leatherhead does, and what direction the story goes post #50. The Batman crossover (although non-canon) is an added bonus, icing on the cake.

Cheers, IDW

Here's hoping the big showdown with Shredder and the rest of the gauntlet can top the brawl we got in #40!

That's all I ask from such a milestone in the best TMNT adaptation ever!

I'm only up to issue 44, but it's still exciting. Defiently my favorite. :tparty:

I'm extremely excited for this issue. It really does feel like a huge milestone for this amazing book and I can't wait to go and collect all the variants for this one.

I'm gonna try to draw up a big ass tribute picture.

Not to be a buzzkill, but I am a little grumpy about having to pay more than the normal cover price. Archie Comics does that for some of their recent double-sized anniversary issues. It's understandable, but still a little annoying for tight wads... err, I mean, "thrifty-persons" like myself. :tlol:

Well it's a double sized issue isn't it? The price is based on the page count so that seems fair to me.

Well there's no companion book in October or November, then Batman/TMNT is non canon (and not even an IDW production) and will be running for half a year.

So when you look at it that way, #50 is only about $0.89

boywonder26 09-01-2015 12:56 PM

I'm soooo excited about the 50th issue,I have been reading since #1..the story is great and the art is fantastic..

CyberCubed 09-01-2015 02:10 PM

Anyone wonder if #50 will have a pull out poster? I keep thinking of those 90's comics where they had these huge posters you would tear out of your comic and hang on your bedroom wall or something.

Man I remember I used to have a bedroom filled with posters on the walls.

Heh, I gotta commend you, Nines, your logic is very convincing. :tlol:

TMNT/Batman has been confirmed non canon? Where did you see that?

Powder 09-01-2015 09:42 PM

Bobby said so here on the Drome iirc.

CyberCubed 09-01-2015 10:50 PM

For me, it will be canon. So long as nothing contradicts the main IDW series.

From what we know General Krang tries to get his revenge on the Turtles by transporting them to another dimension which turns out to be the DC universe. If they still show Krang in the Neutrino prison and he somehow teleports them before being recaptured, it can easily fit.
