Official Episode Discussion S4 Ep 6: Journey to the Center of Mikey's Brain

Season 4 episode 5 is starting just hours from now.

Plot: When microscopic aliens invade Mikey’s mind, the Turtles have to chase them through the strange world of Mikey’s subconscious.

So are we truely seeing the neutrinos that we've seen images of? What will the Turtles encounter in their younger brothers over active subconscious? And the question that is plaguing everyone's mind...will this episode somehow connect to the overall plot or will it (as the plot and everything about it suggests) be straight up filler.

We can only watch and find out...

Its up early on I Tunes now so it's going to be another torture day with trying to avoid spoilers until it airs (Unless someone records and uploads it).

TigerClaw 01-17-2016 08:57 AM

And it begins. :)

ObiWanFan4life 01-17-2016 09:05 AM

Was that a Pulp Fiction reference?

syk_skillz 01-17-2016 09:05 AM

OMG Charlie Murthy!!

Ninturtle 01-17-2016 09:09 AM

Funniest episode of the season so far, the writing quality just seems better this time around.

And Neutrinos finally show up.

TigerClaw 01-17-2016 09:16 AM

The Neutrinos were not how I expected them.

ObiWanFan4life 01-17-2016 09:18 AM

Inside Out: The Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Edition.

Vicky82 01-17-2016 09:21 AM

Twin Peaks reference

saintsaucey 01-17-2016 09:29 AM

Effing awful episode

Ninturtle 01-17-2016 09:33 AM

I didn't expect to like this episode that much but it was actually really good, I love the "that's alien racism" by Casey, and the re uses of some CGI sets and models for this episode were grrat.

Vicky82 01-17-2016 09:33 AM

Awww that was such a cute episode :D

I'm surprised Splinter wasn't seen.

So Tiger Claw was there with the Mutanimals, Pigeon Pete, Leatherhead, Mondo Gecko in Mikey's imagination. Is this Foreshadowing that he could be leaving Shredder and join the Mutanimals.

This episode was anything but imaginative, even if there were some funny moments, such as Donatello stating the real life version of what a Neutrino is. Add the rather silly version of Jabba along with the been there, done that version of the different personifications of a character along with another forced bailout from danger, this just didn't feel very rewarding and is clearly filler. Very weak in the action/fighting department along with no references to advance the overall arc of the season.

Overall: 6/10

If someone doesn't mind, can you please write a quick summary of the episode?
I know the synopsis but something maybe a bit specific?

TigerClaw 01-17-2016 09:36 AM

I thought it was a good episode, but the Neutrinos were not how I expected them, I was expecting this.

It's probably because IDW are already using the 'proper' Neutrinos so Nick decide to do something different with them and use them as the bad guys.

Did you see the full episode? They got Triceraton schematics at the end, that's why they met with Belly Bomb in the first place.

GoldMutant 01-17-2016 09:43 AM

..............

Second worst episode of the space arc by far. I swear, why can't Michelangelo get one solid outing for once? I hated The Croaking for good reason on screwing so many things up and being lackluster, but why do we need filler again? Now all of a sudden, let's cram as many references as possible into one episode.

Although Bellybomb was a nice addition and the scenario in Mikey's head, the rest is just..... I can't even describe it. The continuity in the memories I can praise, but other than that, it's just a pure acid trip of an episode. They rushed yet another episode with potential; even though I wasn't expecting much, I just can't see what they were going for the brain busters (no, I refuse to call them Neutrinos) or Mikey's portrayal. I know I said the same thing about The Creeping Doom was irritating, but why can't we go a cohesive development for the little runt? Mikey may be my least favorite Turtle personally, but it's discouraging. Let me ask a question, if Mikey has all these emotions, then why don't they use them more often?

If they didn't rush the memories out or Mikey's emotions and used them to triumph, I'd see a better episode. Instead, we have an inferior episode concept near identical to In Dreams only less creative and more of stuff of me facepalming. I had more fun watching Wyrm onscreen than the Brain Busters for sure; they are literally trying to tie the narrative together with Dregg too.

Maybe I'll look back on the episode but for the time being, I consider this and Mona to be the low point this season.

IndigoErth 01-17-2016 09:44 AM

Sooooo, that was... interesting. Someone put something funny in the studio water cooler again, I see. lol

Although I kind of expected "little Mikey" to be representative of his inner child, that he's still in touch with, rather than just symbolizing the maturity level of the "real him."
