Official Ep Discussion S4 Ep 10: Trans-Dimensional Turtles
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uN4Br3ICRRU
First and foremost, happy Easter everyone! Whether you're spending time with family, snacking on chocolates, going on hunts, I hope your day is great. :) Now that we got the holiday out of the way, here we go with one of the most anticipated episodes thus far in the entire series. Ever since rumors circulated in season 2 with a brief cameo in The Manhattan Project and the Fred Wolf Turtles manhandled in Tiger Claw's flashback in The Wrath of Tiger Claw, we now reach an episode long in the works. This is far from the first time the franchise has crossed over with past iterations as Turtles Forever preceded this. While opinions are subjective, the original cast wasn't apart of the version which did personally hurt the special. Fast forward (pun intended :P) and here we are now. Ironically matching up as episode 88 (the year of Shredder and Splintered plus the Fred Wolf's second season), this episode has several love letter references. Ranging from the old Konami video games, poking fun at goofiness, etc. If you haven't seen the clips, I'll include the Youtube links at the bottom. That said, with Cam Clarke, Barry Gordon, Rob Paulsen and Townsend Coleman returning to their classic roles with the current Turtles to battle Kraang Sub-Prime and the original Krang himself, what awaits the heroes in a half shell of past and present? Will there be over the top cheesiness? Are we going to see a strange new pizza? More importantly, where do the characters fit in with this wacky adventure nearing the space arc's tailgate. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=f2DSMKs0Jko https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rTYZH9ZztJ0 Happy Easter ladies and gents, enjoy the crossover! |
Some said the old toon turtles were treated poorly. I guess we'll see tomorrow.

Is this going to be put up on Nick.com too?

I'm really surprised at the abysmal animation quality, for both 2D and 3D. I think we all are. The writing on the other-hand, seems really strong.
Suddenly FW S1 looks like a masterwork next to this flash nonsense. Not hating, still excited for the ep as a whole, and love the idea, (who doesn't?) Just think Viacom could have moved some of the PD budget over to Ciro and Brandon's team, instead of wasting it on Vomit-rage pt2. Also, Vomit-rage pt2. is my new band name. |

The episode is up on I Tunes now.

I think most fans could probably forgive the animation side of things as long as the story is funny and action packed. That's the power of nostalgia I guess. The fact they've got the 80's battle theme music playing in the background when they fight Krang in one of those trailers made me so giddy. :trazz: |
Today's the day, can't wait. :)

Brace yourselves.
Peoples who post screencaps of every single second of the episode on tumblr but can't figure out how to upload the actual episode... are coming. :trolleye: |

Sorry these people don't record it so you can watch it illegally.

I found a stream that works :D

Here we go!

Okay I just saw the episode and I absolutely LOVE it. I think the FW turtles are handled pretty faithfully here (and of course having the original voice cast helps a lot). There are a few jokes about the OT's shortcomings, but here they don't come across as blatant bashing as they sometimes did in Turtles Forever.
Obviously everyone working on this episode did their homework, there are quite a few OT references thrown around and fans of that show will no doubt recognize some familiar sounding music tracks when the turtles are in the OT dimension. A few more points: Spoiler:

I still stand by my word on it, even though great to hear them return one more time to the roles, I still feel Barry Gordon's Donatello voice hasn't aged too well. The others still sound amazing, but Barry.... eh I get it's his age but it does distract a little. :ohwell:
Really liking how the Michelangelos get along well due to Fred Wolf Michelangelo, makes me smile. :) Then again, I do kinda feel Townsend is among the best Mikes over the franchise voice wise, tied with Robbie personally. |
LOL a Megan Fox joke
Seeing the turtles with Splinter brought tears to my eyes. |
Wait so....that's how it all...connects??
Wow...I kinda like it! |
This might be a contender for my favorite episode. They really outdid themselves!
|
That was a great episode, great ending too. :)
