A memory from a time long ago....
A while ago in the early 90's (94 at the latest) I remember seeing turtle figures at a swamp meet that where very unique! The cards where very generic and the figures all had red bandanas (as well as elbow and knee pads), but the story on the card back was the same from the cartoon. Each figure had all four weapons, and no letter on the belt. I only remember seeing the turtles, but splinter the foot and April where also on the back. I'm I crazy?

No actually, I think I know what you are talking about. We need TMNTGal to confirm this, but I believe those are a semi-Common TMNT-Knock off.
(I think I even had some) |
:o way cool, i thought i was nuts! :goofygri:

Hmm... yep, just like GK said. Sounds like you saw some bootleg TMNT figs. TMNTGal would know for sure; I think she even knows some of the varieties of bootleg figs.

They are knockoffs. I have had a couple of them and they pop up on ebay now and then.

If I remember right, they were pretty cool ^_^
TMNTGAL!!!!!!!! WE NEED INFO!!!!!!!!! (Here's to hopin' she heard me!) |
TMNT Bootlegs
Yes, those figures are commonly refered to as bootlegs. I have about 15 different kinds and some repeats. They are on cards that look the same. Anyone will do anything. Most will come from a 3rd world country. I'm sure TMNTGal has tons of them. They are also making tons for the 2003 line of TMNT toys. Sometime they can be found on eBay.

I saw some at Anime Expo that was using the Next Mutation sculpts but had armor painted on them and was called "Karate Turtles" Using the new logo. If I had acsess to email, I would have asked TMNT Gal if she needed them, but alas, there was no computer to be had :(
(Unfortunetley, that was like the only TMNT items I found... I was looking for old plushies) |
