Turtles At The Earth's Core
I caught this one on DVD with one of my gal pals yesterday. Always a favourite of mine. I liked how it actually opened with Donatello putting together a strategy to try and locate the Technodrome based off the various spots Shredder's transport modules had surfaced. A pity this plot point is dropped very abruptly and not picked up during the season. It showed more of a pro-active side to the Turtles.
I remember being in love with that mini-Fortress Krang created, I'm surprised noone's made even a custom of that for their figures. It definitely wasn't the most secure thing, and when it returned to the Techndrome, I was sure it'd come back at some point, but no...another idea dropped. "Sure thing banana" |
Mini-fortress
The mini-fortress maybe gets destroyed some episodes later when the Technodrome is flooded in "20 000 Leaks Under the City" of if "The Fifth Turtle" takes place later it gets destroyed when the Technodrome falls back towards the Earth's core.
|
Donny may not have dropped the idea, but he did create a scanner to track the Technodrome's movements in "Return of the Fly" that also got dropped. Maybe the events here were to help with the scanner? I'm guessing it was dropped because they knew the Technodrome had no power to move. They were all surprised when it was moving in "The Big Breakin".
Anyways, this episode is a favorite of mine as well, and I always seem to watch it after "Journey to the Center of the Earth". Krang gets in on the action and they have a prototype Mini Technodrome to boot. It's a pity they didn't return here but that's syndication, I guess!! |

Great episode. There was a funny twist to this episode's ending with the Turtles being the ones getting away for once. I loved the part where Shredder didn't heed Krang's warning about the crystal.
|
But how the heck did that crystal end up in the cave in the Earth's underground? It must have been there for millions of years since that comet hit the Earth and the dinosaurs died out, except a few who managed to escpae into that cave.

Really fun episode. First thing I thought of when they aired the half shell heroes special.

Threads
I'm glad someone still posts such positive in-universe treads like this. Such treads were once common before what seems to have been "bashing for the sake of bashing" took over.

I'm always amused at the ending of this one. It's the one episode where April just can't catch a break.:tlol:

Gangs all here is one of the few episodes I vowed to never watch again lol. But maybe I'll pop it in one last time for discussion's sake.
|
Season 3 had some really good episodes, the only low point being "The Gangs all Here" and, "The Turtle Terminator," which had that robot impersonate Irma and we had to deal with Raphael's awful alternate voice. The animation in that episode was pure garbage too.
Seriously, some of those cheaper animated episodes looked like the characters were made out of putty or rubber bands or something. |
Oh man, this was one of the first TMNT episodes I've watched, for sure. Probably one of the first 20-30 or so. I must have been 6-7 at the time. "Sure thing, banana" is indeed a memorable FW series line
|
I think season 3 was the overall best season of the FW cartoon. Alot of memorable episodes, and alot of new characters like Big Macc, Casey Jones, Usagi, the Rat King, Zac, Leatherhead, Lotus Blossom and Clayton Kellerman.
I've enjoyed every episode of the season and never once found it boring. Infact, one thing that I think season 3 has going for it is the greater focus on characters rather than story, looking back, the characters are more like plot devices in the first 2 seasons and season 3 is where the show really starts to have fun with them. |
End trilogy

The techodrome wasn't even at the core. Krang said they were only 5 miles underground/.
