Has anyone asked David Wise about Krang's original body?

This has been bugging me for years. Was Krang referring to a robot body or an organic body in the pilot?

It's seems odd Krang's enemies would cut open his head, remove his brain, and banish it to earth. Why not just kill him if he's really that dangerous?

Well if the Neutrinos did it (because they were at war with Krang and his soldiers) then its because they are frozen and they had mercy

ABrown 06-21-2016 10:18 AM

Well Krang didn't actually say that he was cut off his original body. He just said that he "lost it".

neatoman 06-21-2016 11:07 AM

I don't think David Wise cared much.

I think Krang was referring to an organic body. I never thought his enemies cut open his head. I assumed he simply lost his body when he was banished to Earth (Krang himself says this in the fourth episode of season one).

Speaking of Krang's enemies, I never thought it was the Neutrinos who banished him to Earth. I always thought it was some other people.

It seems really puzzling that the Neutrinos would banish him, considering how vastly overpowered they were by the stone warriors in most of their appearances.

I think it definetly makes more sense to have Krang banished by an even bigger threat, the Kraang. Krang's army, while unbelievably powerful, i doubt came close to overpowering the kraang hive mind, giving subprime an easy way to banish his cousin without much resistance.

The episode "Invasion of the Krangzoids" already answered your question. It was written by David Wise too.

Krang was a reptilian lizard creature before being banished to earth and stripped of his body.

Whether Krang mutated himself to accquire that body or grew it naturally is debatable, but we can be sure thats how his organic body was before being banished.

It's implied that they took his real body in the beginning of the mini-series but later in the mini-series it's revealed his body was the Android body as a bit of a twist. Counting it was all written at the same time you deduce that the android body is what he meant and it was left ambiguous to have a small surprise but since it's left ambiguous people can argue he did mean a biological(for lack of a better term) body. We have conflicting evidence from two episodes that his species has a biological body and that they don't so that doesn't help things either. Fans of Android body can come up with retcons to make it work while fans of Krang having a biological body just ignore the other Krang flashback. If you count the Interdimentional Turtles crossover then you know for a fact that Krang doesn't have a biological body since he's part of the Kraang hive mind and an Utrom. There's also that sketch from Mirage of an idea for a toy of Krang's Mutant X body which is totally different but only got to concept art.Asking David Wise could be interesting but from what I've heard he's known to change details of what has happened in the past.

So make your own decision with the above information, personally I'm #teamandroidbody

This video should answer all questions...or just raise further ones

thundermaster612 06-22-2016 07:48 AM

Okay watching the video I remembered that David Wise had confirmed that the appearance of his kind in 'Three Musketurtles' was a continuity error and that Krang had looked different in his past. We could theorize that those other 'Utroms' or whatever you want to call them were other ones of Krang's species that had their heads chopped off. Krang's original body was most likely the thing we see in 'Invasion of the Krangazoids' because IDK what those guys see but those weird creatures that represent Krang's actual species do somewhat represent them because look at their heads. The Rock Soldiers recognize his face but then probably realize "wait a second, he's only a head?" and they ask what happened. Or maybe we could turn to that concept art of 'Krang's Gross Dimension X body' and see that it was the case of 2015/16 Lord Dregg where it was partially robot and partially organic. In fact, that could've been the case with the canon '87 Krang. But the thing is, maybe we're not meant to know it. Just like Lois Lowry's speech about the ending of the Giver (except with a few exceptions). She says that the ending is what you want it to be (either though it clearly said Jonas made it to the place in the memories and people can't tell). So maybe its just that we can have Krang's body be what we want it to be. But it's still most likely that Krang's old body was the Krangazoid body. It could be partially robotic partially organic but that would be weird considering the Krang clones grew it, but that's possible. But hey, its only a theory. A TMNT THEORY!

-100 points for failed Film/Gametheory reference
(EDIT: how about adding a poll asking people whether they think Krang's body was organic or robotic, if not possible, how about a new thread with it?)

VaughnMichael 06-22-2016 08:35 AM

They do bring up an interesting theory about it perhaps being a robotic body like the Utrom Exoskeleton.
I never actually thought about that before.

Utrommaniac 06-22-2016 08:51 AM

It seems to me like it was the Krangazoid form that he had. Though, I don't totally buy into that, since he retained a good chunk of things that he should have lost. Brains don't tend to be attached to the mouth and throat. So I'm going to stick with the Comic Theory, wherein the reptile form was just an ancient body that had been lost through generations over millions of years.

One thing I do find incredibly funny is how, even early on, they tried to keep the show Soccer Mom Approved, and yet one of the villains had a backstory so gruesome, it might as well have come from a horror-sci fi film. Everything about Krang's backstory is like that.

If Krang actually had mutated himself to get a body, his enemies would just develope antimutagen and spray it on him, then just capture him and send him through a portal.

Exactly what I was thinking. It ties in pretty nicely to how the Kraang were the inventors of the mutagen and how they would strip him of his new and powerful body to humiliate him badly before banishing. Just watching season 1 of FW again, you see how bruised Krangs ego is from having no body anymore, even his rock soldiers react in shock that their once menancing looking ruler is now nothing more than a brain. And when Krang gets a robot body, he once again acts extremely arrogant and full of himself.

MsMarvelDuckie 06-22-2016 09:15 PM

I really like that idea. So he mutates himself a "new" body in Dimension X (perhaps an evolutionary throwback?) and then gets stripped of it and returns to his "real" form after being banished by either the Neutrinos (and I can certainly buy that the pacifist race would have issues with execution) or the Kraang if they were involved.

What are you talking about? Krang's android body was a new body not the one he had when he was in Dimension X. Also Krang wasn't part of the Kraang hive mind as he clearly had free will, and the Utroms do have biological bodies so it wouldn't make any sense for him to say that he didn't have one.

Cryomancer 06-23-2016 12:39 AM

There is also the matter of that weird seemingly biological thing that looked like krang's android body in the last? episode of the show.

I would say that Krang used that creature's body as a blueprint to design his robotic exosuit. It was nice to see a throwback to the events taking place before the series began in the final episode.

David Wise doesn't answer my questions any more unfortunately. :D
