Toon shredder

So I just bought a toon shredder loose and complete. The stamp on the bottom says 1988? This toy was made in 1992, so I'm curious if this is the way they were produced. Any help is appreciated , thanks .

They re-used the original shredder mold with a different paint mask/plastic, and it never got re-tooled after the original.

Don't know why they didn't change him to have a better posture. Hell,even slouched over he is huge compared to the other figs
