The Turtles are coming to Fox Kids, with a difference: These aren't your little brother's turtles! With the all new Friday afternoon series, Fox Kids Network takes the Turtles to an entirely new level. The Turtles now have a "sister" to the four now eighteen year old "brothers" and will be in more dramatic scenarios that won't make you feel young watching them. But don't think the action and humor has gone away cuz these turtles throw down crispier sidekicks and deliver the good ole' punchlines that have made them famous for kids of all ages. Oh how I forget how hideous kids show/movies websites were back in the day.

What were the graphic designers thinking back then??? To which, as a budding graphic designer, I say:

Back when you had to highlight website text in order to read it against the tiled background.

That's what most websites looked like back in 1997. It also took 1 hour to download and watch a 5 minute video.

Jesus Christ, that resolution is awful! I know these videos were uploaded nearly twenty years ago but the window size VLC automatically picks is smaller than the screen of an original Gameboy.

i miss this show. Really wish that 2nd season happened.

I really would like to see another attempt at this concept; a live-action series where the turtles are now adults and have to fight against new foes. It's a shame this show wasn't executed well because on paper, it seems like a great idea. Take away Venus, use a darker tone, fix up the turtle costumes, and we might just have a solid show.

The funny thing is the website actually describes how I felt about the show when I was a kid. I thought it was a serious show with a good mix of action, comedy and drama, probably because it was live action. A few people at school preferred it over the OT because it wasn't a cartoon. I didn't realise how bad the show really was until I rewatched the first few episodes as an adult a few years ago.

I feel the same way and yet for some odd reason, I find the PD films even more offensive than this. It's a little tough to explain why.

Probably because these Turtles don't have nostrils.

In all seriousness the designs for the Turtles in Next Mutation are actually pretty decent. Its only the lack of budget for a live-action kids show which is why they don't look as good as they could.

I could not possibly disagree more.

TNM was really hip and cool, I was still a kid unlike a lot of dromers here and my heroes who had been absent for a while were back! But now they were older! they dressed cooler! and totally represented the 90s. Not only that but it was live action like the movies I loved which were totally more serious. The best of it all was that there was a new member! a female turtle. The action figures showed this new awesome villain called the Dragonlord and Shredder is in all black looking all badass.

I don't remember if I ever got to watch the show as a kid and if I did it was only an episode or two though but I do remember listening to the 15 second preview song of the Armageddon soundtrack at Walmart thinking of the turtles fighting against the Dragonlord. It's easy to dimiss as cynical adults these things but it's more fun to remember our feelings as kids and not looking at things in hindsight or thinking we knew better back then.

I tried to watch this series on Netflix and didn't manage to get through the first ten minutes of the first episode.

I thought Splinter's design was the worst. Those suits made TMNT 3 look like a masterpiece.

Same with me I barley made it through the first episode the costumes were bad the acting was bad this show made turtles 3 look like turtles 1. hell PD turtles is more watchable.

Definitely Out of Their Shells, those costumes were terrible!

Of course you can't compare the costumes of TMNT 3 to the show, they had entirely different budgets, one is a movie while the other is a tv show. And of course they are much better than the Coming out of the Shells costumes, it's not even a fair fight. They're pretty decent costumes for a budget tv show and they offered the best movement out of any other live action turtles costume, not even in TMNT 3 did they move this much.


Again most of you are watching this show in hindsight and not in context. You may bash it based on the first 10 minutes of the first episode but if you stick with it you'll see that's possibly the worst the show ever is. I'm not saying it ever becomes great but it has some redeemable things and some good episodes. I always post the same thing here defending TNM and many most think I'm a huge fan, but I'm not. I just think it's an alright show that doesn't deserve the hate it gets, especially when most just repeat like sheep flaws that they read on other websites that are completely untrue like "It was the Venus show" and they continue to spread misconceptions. Good show? No. Terrible? nah.

Given that it was a live show, there was at least a practical reason for the Out Of Their Shells suits to look the way they did.

Their shortcomings can't be glossed over with the skillful use of shadows, lighting, and camera tricks.
