Chris Allen to return to TMNT?!??

From TMNT vol. 4 #11:

"The revived Tales of the TMNT comic is on schedule for startup next January. Steve Murphy just showed me some really neat art by Chris Allen for one of those issues..."

WOW! is this Chris Allen from the TMNT: Adventures comic? His art was very nice (very soft spot for it, as that was my TMNT literature when I was younger.

I hope so, he was always my favorite TMNT artist.

Karpo_007 10-19-2003 03:34 PM

I don't recall him doing any Mirage stuff before, I'm sure it will be interesting.

Leo656 10-19-2003 03:37 PM

I don't think he ever did, all I ever saw from him was his work in TMNTA and the three-issue Ninjara story that appeared in Furrlough. He's an awesome artist, even if he didn't do any Mirage stuff.

Cuz as well all know, just because someone didn't draw the TMNT for Mirage doesn't mean they're not good. :P

Karpo_007 10-19-2003 03:41 PM

Have I ever said I think otherwise? Archie had some very good art towards the end.

Leo656 10-19-2003 03:49 PM

Yeah the art AND the writing were getting really good over time... that's why the abrupt ending saddened me. :(

(and I was just pokin' at ya big guy :) )

Karpo_007 10-19-2003 03:53 PM

Yeah... The last stories in the Archie series had some pretty mature elements, it was a lot better than the kiddie comic it started as.

darthsmozers 10-19-2003 04:06 PM

the abrupt ending was VERY sudden...and sad :(

so even if his art coming soon isnt based off of the TMNT:A characters, seeing him draw the turtles again will be so nice :)

so we need confirmation as to if PL typed a typo, of if they're two different people?

yes

I as well was very sad when the archie series ended
I was really looking forward and still do till this day to know what was going to happen in the forever war the picture in the advertisment was so awsome
I realy realy want to know what that story is about
Vaughn Michael

darthsmozers 10-19-2003 10:41 PM

well now we dont know if chris allen and chris allan are the same person...

but, on topic, yes, the Forever War looked AWESOME, and it could easily have been THE ending for the series. If this IS the same Chris Allan/Allen, then he'll be back in the game, and perhaps fan mail could reach him about possibly actually doing a one shot project or at least answer the question about what it was...unless Archie owns those rights.

Machias Banshee 10-19-2003 10:50 PM

Its the same person, just error in spelling, trust me...

this is so COOL!!! :D I adore how he drew Splinter and the boys... :tlove:

darthsmozers 10-19-2003 11:03 PM

does anyone have some good images of his work? Ive been trying to find some without scanning my own books, i dont have them at school with me, lol.

darthsmozers 10-20-2003 10:15 AM

here we go, from Dan Berger:

"Howdy Jason,

> Many of us fans are asking, is this Chris Allan (notice the
> spellings), who worked on most of the TMNT: Adventures comic from
> Archie Comics?

Yes it is - it was just a typo. :)

Thanks for writing!

Cheers!

I wonder how his non-cartoony TMNT will look like.

darthsmozers 10-20-2003 12:24 PM

maybe it WILL look cartoony, but just not as cartoony. He had a certain style to the turtles, I hope it stays.
