What should the Kur-li maneuver have really been?

For those who remember Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Blast From The Past (episode 47), the Leader of the Foot clan was the only one whu knew the Kur-li maneuver, and so Splinter knew it, but it turned out to be a couple of funny arm waves a knock on the forehead and a few slaps and then a gentle wave in front of the face with a feather fan - yeah it paralized Shredder all the while, who Splinter was performing it on, but I expected it to be some real fast, impressive arm movements or backflips or something. Those who have seen that episode, what were you expecting when the great Kur-Li maneuver was mentioned - since it's so secret an all. Those who haven't seen the episode, what would you have expected too?

btw, the way Splinter did the Kur-li was pretty funny tho, I think I was still staring with my eyebrows raised when the cartoon had finished, like 'wtf??!'

THE MACARENA!!!!!!!!

I thought it was perfect as it was!

The kur-li (or curly) move was so funny!!! When I saw this I thought it would be some simple move that paralyzed you...like just touching a certain spot and you would get knocked out.

Well....If the show wasn't censored, possibly a series of quick and brutal hits that would knock Shredder out cold, requiring Bebop and Rocksteady to carry him out on a stretcher. Could be comical, considering Shredder wouldn't know what to expect.

Bepop and Rocksteady DID carry him out, lol

Leo656 10-19-2003 06:37 PM

Dumb as it was, it did fit in perfectly with the old show. So I can't imagine it being anything other than it was. They almost always beat the bad guys in some dumb comedic way, anyway.

Raphaella 10-19-2003 06:42 PM

True, but I think I'd laph even more if it turned out to be something very impressive

Deathknight 10-19-2003 07:01 PM

well, it is Cur-ly manuever because it was obviously having Splinter act the Curly from the three stooges. I thought it was done perfectly for the show at the time. "You.... impostors!" "Mama!"

Yeah, but they didn't use a stretcher I think. It's just not the same. It would actually be quite funny if Krang sent up some sort of a special modified ambulance unit module, with a red cross on it and all. I think Shredder needed it.

Raphaella 10-20-2003 06:15 AM

lol, yeah, ok

btw, I just got the word spelt 'kur-li' from the subtitles at the bottom of the cartoon.

Cascadia 10-20-2003 10:49 AM

  It did fit very well with the original TV series. During the entire episode, they kept on mentioning it as a way of suspense. It turned out to be very funny.

probably the worth episode of the 3rd season. Almost all flashbacks, bah. a poor filler episode.

Raphaella 10-20-2003 02:58 PM

I was a bit dissapointed with the episode flashbacks, I'd got all of those episodes anyway

MW8979 10-20-2003 03:32 PM

Keep in mind that this episode was probably meant as a brief reiteration of the intro season for those who just "tuned in" to the show. It took a few seasons for the turtles to become popular, so in a way, it was good they had such an episode.

jeff the cheff 10-20-2003 03:47 PM

Yea, and even tho i already saw the first episode I really liked this one, i think the kur-li move was one of the funniest things in tmnt.

Bowser_Koopa 10-24-2003 07:30 PM

the first time i saw it as a kid, i didn't get it, then last year i saw the clip from a site, and didm't get it either, then the second time i got it and couldn't stop laughing, mostly 'cuz splinter rarely does funny things and that one was very funny!

Well, they had to get Splinter's memory back somehow...

Morp 10-25-2003 02:25 PM

I really laughed at the kur-li maneuver when I first saw it as a little kid, and I still laugh at it now. It fit in perfectly with the whole show, and it came as a surprise because it wasn't what I expected.
