- What does "Heroes In A Half Shell" really mean?
- What does "Heroes In A Half Shell" really mean? -
Here is your brain teaser for the day. Has anyone ever thought about that lyric? Our heroes don't have half of a shell, you can plainly see there is a front and back. Okay, it's late and I am going to bed now. I hope to wake up tomorrow and see his topic filled with intelligent responses. Goodnight. :) |
It's a pun. You know, a play on words. There's a common expression about eating oysters served on half of the shell. Well, these are heroes that happen to have shells.

Figure of speech.
Like One Shell of a GoodTime Kick Shell Shell you later Ah Shell and Pardon my Shell |
I always thought that they have half-shells because they do not cover their whole body: their legs are clearly shown.
|
i always wondered why they said half shell, now i know :)
|
I think it's cuz it sounds snazzy!!
|
because heros in a shell sounds bad.

Nice old school TMNT pic you got there. It's got all the authentic 80's pencilling/shading/colouring - they just don't make cartoon art like they used to anymore.
|
Funny you should mention this, whenever I talk to someone at school about TMNT and they remember the theme they always say "turtles in a half shell."

I remember onetime in my 10th grade biology class, we were talking about clams on teh halfshell, or whatever it was. One of you just mentioned it. And one of the immature boys in our class suddenly goes, "Heroes in a Halfshell..........Turtle Power!" LOL! Dunno the meaning of the name either. Unless they mean that the TMNT don't have regular bodies where alot of it is covered by their shells. Therefore, they are referred to as 'half-shelled'......?
