April 2020 Solicitations

TMNT ONGOING #105

(W) Tom Waltz, Kevin Eastman, Sophie Campbell (A/CA) Sophie Campbell
Music, mayhem, and most importantly: family. The TMNT all return to NYC and begin to see a path forward for themselves in Mutant Town. The conclusion to Sophie Campbell's first ongoing story arc ends with heart and isn't to be missed!

TMNT JENNIKA #3 (OF 3)

(W) Brahm Revel (A/CA) Brahm Revel
Jennika's collision with her past reaches its climax as old enemies return! Alone and seemingly outmatched, Jennika must search inside herself and ask if the cure for mutation is worth the price...

TMNT URBAN LEGENDS #24

(W) Gary Carlson (A/CA) Frank Fosco
The end is nigh... twenty-one years in the making, the final three issues of Gary Carlson and Frank Fosco's legendary TMNT run are here!

Who is the Lady Shredder? The Turtles believe they've found the answer in Karai, but it soon becomes apparent that not all is as it seems. With Master Splinter on his deathbed and Warlord Komodo knocking at their door, what are they supposed to do now?!

POWER RANGERS/TEENAGE MUTANT NINJA TURTLES #5

(W) Ryan Parrott (A) Simone Di Meo (CA) Dan Mora
It's the ultimate showdown between the Mighty Morphin Power Rangers and Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, up against the joint forces of Rita Repulsa and Shredder! Cowabunga!

The way March's solicitation read I thought #104 was the conclusion of the current storyarc. Mutant concert and the cover make it sound underwhelming especially if they relocate from their bomb shelter under the church lair. I thought it was such a cool concept!

About time we got to new Volume 3 stuff. :tgrin:

Too bad an official conclusion only took two decades despite considerable fan interest.

Anyone else think this new TMNT arc is an excuse to draw attractive furry people, don't get me wrong you can't get too much pig girls but its a thought.

Igglet 01-24-2020 12:47 PM

God, I'm so scared of how #105 might turn out.

Yeah I'm getting a serious furry vibe from all this. Like an Omaha the Cat Dancer vibe.

Why is that?

neatoman 01-24-2020 01:25 PM

Two pigs and a rabbit? Seems like a missed opportunity to either have a Three Little Pigs reference, or to replace one the pigs with a duck for a Looney Tunes reference.

I mean . Isn't that kinda what would happen if everyone was mutated? It would be some furry's wet dream.

The furry vibe in the new TMNT arc is obvious in my opinion.

Yeah I was a bit naive there in anticipation. But also since the Turtles are now at a furry music festival I feel like I've stepped into a different series.

So all the Turtles are reunited again by issue 105, looks like people don’t have to worry about all the other Turtles besides Raph being sidelined out of the story.

Looks like not much but a brief arc before things get rolling.

neatoman 01-24-2020 02:31 PM

So appearently Pig Squeel Metal is a thing IRL...

I assume the issue will be entirely character-driven, and if that's the case, then the dynamic between the main cast is the most important part. So far, though, the way Sophie writes dialogue hasn't really worked for me, and while it's far too early to judge, I feel like this issue might suffer the most from that problem.

Pair that up with the really silly concept that might end up being really great if it's handled with just the right amount of self-awareness, but will probably backfire pretty hard if that balance isn't achieved. Also, I've probably already said this, but does anyone else get MAJOR Scott Pilgrim vibes from that whole 'mutant bands' thing?

I'm super excited for this issue because I can totally see myself loving it, but I'm also really worried about it. I'm definitely digging too deep into this considering the issue's like 3 months away, though.

Urban Legends cover for #24 is wrong. Heike isn't involved in the issue at all.

lonewarrior20 01-24-2020 05:03 PM

gotta be some interesting riffs coming out of that guitar with only two fingers to hit the frets with. so think jennys going to get piercing's down the road?

PApagreg 01-24-2020 09:16 PM

Real talk I would be severely disappointed if there is no mention of humans going into Mutant Town to live out their furry/anime fantasy.

I was getting an "Unnatural" vibe which ironically also had a cute pig girl

CyberCubed 01-25-2020 09:49 AM

Hopefully we get some info on what happened to Karai in this arc even if it's just minor.

Cool. We finally get to see the Mutant Band Mona Lisa was talking about.
