TMNT Urban Legends #24 Preview and Discussion

Finally! First look:

Diorm 06-19-2020 09:16 AM

Is it just me or the pages have been compress from top to bottom?

AlZarkovski 06-19-2020 09:19 AM

Yes a little. All Itunes previews have this problem.

Can't wait. Really thankful that IDW is releasing both this and The Last Ronin. Pretty damn cool.

Between these two and Batman vs TMNT, we are getting more TMNT products aimed at an older audience than we have for quite some time, when you think about it. It's nearly suspect.

"Don't do that!"

Exactly.

While I am excited to read this and the rest of IDW's conclusion for the Image run, I highly doubt this is going to cause me to strike Andrew's issues from my personal head-canon. The rubber stamp of "officiality" be damned. Still, I hope it's good, if only for those who aren't aware of the earlier conclusion and those who feel beholden to the aforementioned rubber stamp. Not trying to start drama with those who may disagree, just sharing my two cents.

Full preview.

Some really great stuff in store these next 3 issues, for sure.

Don't worry... this is really good.

I'm definitely getting these last three issues! Glad to support this project.

Diorm 06-30-2020 07:56 AM

I really wish they could do more after the end of Urban legends. Something in-between this and Volume 4.
Are the sells any good?

frank_one 06-30-2020 07:57 AM

It is so refreshing to read a tmnt comics without dozens of mutants or female turtles.

Karai's daughter being alive, is this a concept ever brought up before? As far I knew she was considered dead in all other comics set after City at War.

Enscripture 07-01-2020 09:00 AM

lol how did on THE STORY SO FAR intro page did they miss his name spelled as RALPH??

LUIS 07-01-2020 10:48 AM

So it was actually the armor? I didn't see that coming.

I don't think Karai's (apparently) deceased daughter so much as received a quick mention in anything post-CAW. Until now.

Both of these are surprising, yet organic, extensions of everything set up in the comics continuity up to that time.

lol How does the 30th Anniversary story fit in now if 24 starts where 23 ends? :P

This is really good so far. The Lady Shredder twist makes sense and it's nice to see Warlord Komono return after disappearing after the first 5 issues. It's funny we spent 25+ years wondering who Lady Shredder was and we were all wrong.

I forgot that Cheng was still leeching off Splinter's life force in the astral plane, but I didn't remember Splinter being in a coma at the end of issue 23...but I'm sure they'll save him. Love the bits with Mike/Don/Shadow/Dr. X. Looks like Donatello growing a new shell (which from what I remember is similar to what Andrew came up with), is going to happen.

Seems like everything is lining back into continuity for Vol. 4. They'll just have to explain how Leo gets his hand back, but we'll see.

A few things missing so far that may or may not be covered:

- The Komodo Dragon mutant is nowhere to be seen, he escaped in the sewers somewhere after they rescued Leatherhead from him. But if he doesn't turn up I guess it's not a big deal.

- Speaking of Leatherhead he was teleported somewhere unknown after issue 22-23, but I guess he could just be on Earth somewhere.

Besides that the gangsters wanted to get Shadow back again, I wonder if they'll be covered at all or if there's just no time for that.
