The post-turkeyday rush is on.

After spending several weeks looking for the new figures I suddenly found all of them this evening. Between five stores I ended up with nine new TMNT figures and a handful of DBZ figures.

The entire haul breaks down as follows:

TMNT Elite Guard
TRU east
TMNT Poseable Plush Leonardo
TMNT Armorized Shredder
DBZ Ser. 14 Kid Buu
DBZ Ser. 14 Vegeta
DBZ Ser. 14 Goku
Target east
Bubkis
Walmart east
DBZ Ser. 14 Teen Trunks
DBZ Ser. 14 Uub
TMNT Fighting Gear Leonardo (x2)
TMNT Fighting Gear Raph
TMNT Armorized Shredder
TMNT Fighting Gear Don
TMNT Fighting Gear Mike

All I got today was the Foot Gunner. I wish I could find some of those Mattel Batman figures like Mr. Freeze and Robin.

Speaking of Mattel, I'm planning to begin a MOTU collection. Everyone seems to buy them where I live. Anyone wanna tell me if it's worth it?

My grandma went to a walmart near Denver. They sold out of their turtle stuff 6 hours after the store opened, and they had just gotten a new shipment last week. :o

Yeah, I tried the Target near me today... there were about four figures.

At My Wal-Mart in Canada, we just got the Extreme Sports Turtles. They sold out THE DAY THEY CAME OUT.

Good Lord NO!!!! Mattel's relaunch of He-man is the exact antisithis of the TMNT line. Where as the TMNT line has had excellent distribution and case ratios, the He-man line's distribution has basicly been set up to make it all but impossible to find all the figures. To start with they decided to seperate the shipments into villian cases and hero cases. As a result, it is quite possible to end up with stores that simply never have half of the figures. Then to make things even worse, the case ratios are set up with the He-man and Skeletor varients out numbering the new figures by as much as 5 to 1. :-?

I haven't been actively serching for He-man figures, but I have often looked at them while on toy runs just to see if I could find the figures. I did manage to find all of the figures from the first three or four waves (up to Syklone) But many of those figures I only saw once. And I have never seen the new characters from that wave on. Off the top of my head, I have never seen Two-Bad, Whiplash, Evilyn, Buzz-off and Roboto. And keep in mind that I generally go on toy runs no less than weekly and I still haven't seen them.

Now add in paint varients for almost every wave so far. So if you tend to be a completist you can kiss your sanity, and a large wad of cash, good-bye.

I don't mean to discourage people from collecting any line. And if you like the He-man line than go ahead and pick up a few figures. But realize that collecting MOTU figures is going to be a wildly different experience from being a TMNT collector. Also, there seems to be a trend by retailers to dedicate less and less shelf space to the line due to the large number of peg warmers it has already produced. Even Mattel's efforts to clear the pegs with the Mossman mail in offer went in vain since they just turned around and filled them with more repaints and silly varients.

So to make a long rant short, if you like the figures go ahead. But be prepared to shell out some serious cash to fill in the holes for the figures you have already missed and those you many never be able to find at retail in the future.

I finally found the Foot Elite and Foot Gunner last night at my local Wal-Mart. Of course, after the shopping rush this weekend, there wasn't much left. I try to get two of each figure I get (one to keep MOC and the other to have loose and display) but they only had two Foot Gunners and one Foot Elite, so I took what I could get. They didn't have the Amorized Shredder or Armor Turtles. The TMNT section had been picked over quite a bit. The only figures that were left were what I got and then a few Foot Tech Ninjas and Nanos. I guess this is a good sign the TMNT figures were popular during the holiday shopping rush. Turtle Power!!!

I was working at a toyworks the morning after thanksgiving and nobody bought any ninja turtles figures. The reason for that is we only had like 4.

Haha I did try to make this lady buy them when she was shopping for her kids, but she refused because of the age limit and the small ninja stars. I hate saftey freaks.
