Favourite April O' Neil iteration?
I love the 2003,2012 and fred wolf April's, what April O' Neil iteration do you like?
|
Has to be FW by a mile.
|
FW April all day, every day.
I admire her personality. |
FW. Also love Judith's portrayal.
I hope the trend of "kid April" dies out. Just makes Splinter look like a jerk for putting someone else's child in the line of fire. |

Did they ever show Rise April's parents or family? |

I also liked Paige Turco in the role. |
About Rise April: I don't think they showed her parents, tho to be honest I was bored looking at my phone a lot in her focus episodes.

Most definitely the Fred Wolf version.
|
2003 April I'd guess. The Fred Wolf versions seems pretty one-note with a gimmick I don't think works and the 2012 cartoon just did a whole bunch of weird crap with her that I don't understand the point of.
That said, I don't really mind how she is characterised elsewhere, I don't mind how the IDW comics or 2007 movie depicts her either. I just kind of picked the 2003 version because that's usually the cartoon version I default the most to generally, which I suspect is a similar reason to why there are so many votes for the Fred Wolf version of her here. |

I am not always a very complicated person. ...She'd probably also have smelly boot feet (a few times it was shown she doesn't wear socks with that outfit... gross!) but I try really hard not to think about that. |
Mirage, where she is what she is meant to be, a den mother, & link to the outside world. Plain & simple. No psychic powers, no flaming baseball bats, no ninja skills, not an object of lust or damsel in distress. Just a regular lady who fell into irregular circumstances & remained pretty regular. Maybe she's not very interesting, but she doesn't need to be.
As far as portrayals go, Judith Hoag is probably my favorite of the many cast to play her. She had a great look, great personality, & shows a great deal of passion for the legacy & fandom. |
The 2012 version. (Well, I didn’t like her when she was possessed by that evil crystal)
|
I like them all except the black one from Rise. Who I refer to as, "Black O'Neil." She's April in name only. If they named her Shelly nobody would think she was April but a new character.

Is this the part where you remind us you have black friends? |
I did have a black friend named Jordan when I was in second grade elementary school, but it has nothing to do with this.
Rise April though, if they named her, "Tiara" or "Jasmine" instead of "April," you'd just assume it was a new character and that April didn't exist in the show. She's April in "name only." |
I don't dislike Rise April, she's just not as interesting as the other Aprils,

Fred Wolf April, but mainly in the Red Sky seasons, where she was a bit more capable (there still was some distress there, but she was able to hold her own and help in quite a bit of occasions, like when the Turtles were drained of their life energy, April finally got the chance to try and save them).
|
Gonna have to go with the 4kids version. I like her personality the most. And Veronica Taylor did a fantastic job voicing her.
|
FW one, of course.
I like 2k3 April, but she was mostly just there. And 2k12 April bordered on Mary Sue at times and generally was there to provide Don with dumb substory. |
