Not angry, just disappointed...
This weekend my 2003 Splinter figure fell off the shelf (only about 3 feet high), landed on carpeted floor, and his tail broke off at the base. This greatly ruined my day. I haven't played with the new figures that much. They mainly sit on a shelf just to look cool. I haven't even had them a year and already one of them has broken. I thought these new figures were a lot better than the old ones just because of the level of detail, but now I'm not so sure.
I've had my old TMNT figures for about 15 years, and none of them have broken (excpet for the ones my dumbass brother and his friend shot with a BB gun). I played with the old figures all the time. Since they're action figures, I'm sure I played rough with them, but my old Splinter's tail is still intact. I just can't believe that one of my new figures is broken from such an insignificant drop. I'm just going to have to settle for his tailed being super glued on. Has anyone else had any such issues with the craftsmenship of these new figures or is it just my own bad luck??? |
thats wicked weird! I moved my figures to my inflateable chair then when my friend took them off the chair, the splinter tail was gone! It just happend yesterday! I was so upset! When i go christmas shopping i'll be shure to get another one.

Whoa. BTW, do you know how your Splinter fell?
Because I recently found my Leonardo (who had been standing fairly close to the edge) and my Foot Tech Ninja (nowhere near the edge) on the floor (well, on a pile of stuffed animals under the bookcase) with no evidence as to how they fell, looking like they were in the middle of a fight. I was getting Toy Story vibes, man, it was freaky. :o |

My new series Raph was a real bugger to get to stand still on my desk shelf...I kept setting him up and then I'd forget about him. I'd come back in the room later on to sit at my desk and I'd notice him on the floor. He musta fallen like three times, I guess I wasn't positioning him right. I sure hope he and other figures aren't cheap. As for the old figures, I have them displayed on a different shelf. To make sure they stand up, I have clear taped their feet to the shelf. Crude I know, but effective. None of them ever fall off hardly unless you jostle the shelf. As for toughness, yeah they do seem that way. I was always careful with mine...seldom ever broke anything on them. But even the ones I was rougher with are still in good working order... |
All my Turtle figures have fallen at least once, fell 3 feet to hit a solid wood table, then fell another 3 feet to the ground, and the only thing that's come off is Casey's mask. Maybe it was the way yours landed.
(And I think my Doc Doom figure is trying to take over the shelf by pushing other characters off until he is all that's left :o ) |
I know the filling. One day I accidently play my Rock-n- Roll Michealanglo in the oven. Its' legs melted. Some of the legs broke off. I still own him. Now he is legless. I loved that figure, because back in 1989, it was the closest thing we had to the cartoon. :tcry:

It was probably just the way it landed. Too much pressure on the right spot, and it'd snap. Overall, though, the new figures seem to be quite sturdy, so I don't think it's to do with cheap plastic...
If you want poor plastic quality, look to Toy Biz's Marvel Legends figures. Great sculpts, unreal articulation, but of the five figures I've bought, two are now missing major limbs, and I haven't done much more with them than occasionally pose them. http://www.brydude.com/diehulkdie.jpg |
First, nice pic!!!
Well, now its time for my story...about 2 weeks ago i bought the new Casy fig and went home in a rush to open him up. So i open up the blister...and carefully start to remove him when is right hand FALLS OFF!!! There was NO snapping, bending, or anything...and there is no way to put it back on...I couldnt believe that that happened...and like you, it just ruined my day...im so mad im thinkin i might not even buy another (heck thats the same $$ i could be using to buy another new fig or a foot...) and just leave him handless...oh well |
I had Splinter's tail fall off and break off. Thank god for hot glue.
The first time my sister accidentally stepped on him. I was able to find the tail in (thank god) one piece. The second time he took a leap from about 2 1/2 feet up off a computer desk. Hot glue--it's great stuff! |
My Casey figure fell off my chelf, and his left hand fell off, that was the hardest thing to glue back together.
|
GAAAAAAAAAH! MY SPLINTER JUST BROKE TOO!!!
I'm serious, I was just moving them off my desk and I set him down, dropped an Elite Foot on top of him and CRACK! They must be breaking in time for the holiday rush... |

My (well my friends and ours) turtles (only) sit on the fireplace mantle piece and they have a little marble bit they can fall on too (not good) and only Don has fallen over (coz he's a pain to stand up) but luckily onto some shoes and he didn't get damaged or anything
|
Haha, I can't believe this has happened to so many of you....uhh I mean us. My Splinter has also lost his tail. It didn't fall, I just tried to move it. Of course I would never be rough with my TMNT, it didn't matter. I won't even bother with glue. I'll just say he got run over.

Reminds me of the Jeep that came with my Wimpy (from Popeye) figure.
That is why I am usually very very carefull with my stuff... |
I am careful with my stuff too. I treat my figures like they are fragile glass. lol

Relay you jinked us all! its all your fault.,

|
I lost my Casey Jones's mask, so I went out and bought another one. I'll probably buy a new Splinter in the next week or so.
