Episodes of the 1987 show where the villains win in fights.
Just a personal list I was making for fun, jot down any episodes you have in mind. Here are the ones I remember:
1. The Incredible Shrinking Turtles: Shredder defeats all 4 turtles in a fight. 2. The Big Blow Out: Shredder defeats Splinter in a fight, before Leonardo and Michelangelo save him. 3. Name that Toon: Shredder defeats Donatello in a 1 vs 1 fight. |
In general the writers were protective of Shredder in almost every episode. I think you can count on one hand the times the turtles actually defeated Shredder on actual combat. Later in the series you might see the turtles defeating shredder by throwing a barrel at him and him escaping but it wasn't an actual fight and even those examples are later in the series' run He was made into an actual threat if they ever fought him.

Yeah, whenever Shredder wasn't hiding behind a laser gun or whatever, he would be a threat in an actual fight, as much of an actual fight the OT would allow.
Shredder, Bebop and Rocksteady pretty much defeated the Turtles in 'Turtles on Trial' and he only let them go because Krang made him. It was also one of the few times Bebop and Rocksteady weren't complete pushovers and actually gave the Turtles trouble in a season 3 episode. It was inconsistent how often Shredder would run from the Turtles when he knew he could take all 4 in a fight, but I guess he wised up and knew it wasn't worth it because they always fought dirty and used slapstick and throwing steaming hot pizzas at his face. No wonder Shredder keeps his mask on. It's to protect him from third degree melting cheese pizza burns. |
^ Absolutely!! And you could tell that smoke bomb Shredder left in their wake had a more lasting impact as well. I guess Krang's lecture at he beginning had an impact on them as well. The Turtles oribably would have won if April hadn't gotten in the way.

Remember those eps the Turtles defeated Shredder by throwing a pie of pizza at his face? Happened in quite a few eps.

Four Musketurtles: Rocksteady throws a jewellery stand at Leonardo, knocking him unconscious and making him believe he is D' Artagnan.
|
My favorite Shredder duel is the Season 7 finale where both Leonardo and Raphael were fighting him at the same time and Shredder was blocking both their blades with his sword and taking them on 2 against 1.

1987 Shreddee was a good fighter when he was focused. |
The Power of Three: when Shredder and Krang teamed up with Dregg, they battled the turtles at the power plant and it ended with the turtles being captured.
|
Wanted Bebop and Rocksteady: 1987 Foot Soliders defeat 2012 EPF soldiers, and even give 2012 Slash/Leatherhead trouble.
I love how badass the 1987 Foot Soldiers wrere portrayed in the 2012 crossover. |
Bebop and Rocksteady had their finest moment when they were able to capture Michelangelo after a fight in 'Cowabunga Shredhead'. He was able to hold them off until he forgot his nunchucks.

Were Rats from Channel Six: Rat King defeats all four turtles in a fight.
Rock Around the Block: General Traag defeats all four turtles. The Ninja Sword of Nowhere: Shredder defeats both Leonardo and Raphael. |
In season eight's Get Shredder, Shredder gets into a fight with Leonardo. Leonardo breaks Shredhead's sword, but Shredhead surprises him by hitting him in the face.

Plus, a disarmed Leonardo was almost killed in the beginning fight in "Turtle Trek" and Shredder actually shows remorse. And with that being his final episode as a main villain, it has a "Stop the world, I wanna get off!!" kinda look and feel.
