Last of Us Part III

Its horrible because I absolutely loved the first one. |
Something the second game never really bothered following up on is what made Ellie so special that she was bitten and immune to turning? It just never came up in the second game and it's weird because that was the main plot of the original. I assume Ellie is not some "special" case and there's probably more immune people out there, we just never hear about it.
I don't know what they can do with a third game, unless they want to give some type of "happy ending" and have them derive a cure from Ellie to stop the infected. Because otherwise Ellie's story is pretty much done. |

Imagine part 3 being all about Abby.

I doubt they'll use Abby, her story with Ellie's is over. They were connected by Joel's death but both moved passed it, there's no reason to use her.
I have seen people theorize they could do another time skip and make Ellie a 30-40+ year old woman in the next game, but I'm curious if they'll go that far. I guess they could do anything though, it's impossible to speculate since they can take it in any direction they want. I just hope it doesn't take until the Playstation 6 for the game to come out, but knowing how game development is, it probably will be for the next console. |
I think a big time skip is a definite possibility. Have Ellie become what Joel was, essentially. Or maybe Abby hooks up with some super organized people that can really help the world and the game is like "The Search for Ellie," with no Ellie until later in the game. Also, it'd be nice to have a male character for at least some of the game, after the very estrogen-charged II -- which I did enjoy. A lot of people decry it or get hung up on the blatant virtue signaling (these stories are GOOD and told WELL... they didn't need to add that in there at all for brownie points with weirdos) but I found II to be an exhausting -- in a good way -- voyage into pure vengeance, with very few punches held. The ending was unsatisfying and that was the point, but in this case I found it poetic and not a slap in the face.
And probably they want to push this out so they can have material for season 4 and 5 of the TV show. |

So definitely two more games. If you were to read the comments there as straight-up then it'd mean two sequels to II linearly but probably one of them is something else. Maybe the prequel with Joel's "missing years" people keep blabbing about, as if that'd be anything meaningful, and then a proper Last of Us Part III with Ellie and Abby and all. The way he's talking there, 2028 at the earliest though for either one. Shesus. Modern gaming is really awful sometimes. |
