Not gonna lie, I'm surprised they're doing 2012! I thought maybe they'd stick to Mirage and '90s stuff, but the Last Ronin line blowing up felt like a chance to do more "modern" Turtles as well ... and that show is now 12 years old at this point, so probably a good call to get that market before someone else tries to jump in and scoop that line up. You know NECA will do it right.

I hope this doesn't affect the 1987 and '90s movie lines too much, but truthfully, it does feel like we're at a closing gap ... and there's really only a handful of Archie characters I'm interested in getting.

I enjoyed the 2012 series, but I never finished it. Think I got up to the middle of season 3? I'll have to go back from the beginning sometime.

Finally, someone's revisiting this series. I won't be replacing my Revos, but I'm looking forward to the first worthwhile figures of 2012 April, Splinter, Karai and more.

Grateful to see a line I have no interest in. Happy for those that are excited though. Keep expanding that Archie line first, NECA.

Didn't imagine they'd skip 2k3, though, now that I think about it, I do seem to recall at least one of their guys talking about having an interest in covering the NICK cartoon. In any case, guess they decided to let Super7 have 2k3.

I'm not sure this line is for me, but I always enjoy seeing what NECA comes up with. Happy for those who are excited about this line.

Hmmm... I wonder if they'll do Usagi (you knew I was gonna say it).

Maybe they'll start doing Rise figures after this? Probably not a big enough market, but hey, a guy can dream.

On the one hand, what NECA is doing is pretty amazing. They've covered so much ground and made figures of so many characters.

On the other hand, it's gross over saturation. And it's still weird to me how there's this entire market out there to sell expensive toys to adults who will never play with them and, in many cases, won't even display them or open them. The rush to collect this stuff or to complete a collection seems as addictive as a drug. I'm so glad that I went cold turkey on NECA as soon as I realized it would be impossible to keep up with even one of the lines.

In pixel dan's newest NECA interview video that dropped around 6hr ago now, they confirmed that they already have the four turtles sculpted and two villains of "various sizes" and we can look forward to hopefully seeing more looks at NYCC later this year.

Trevor from NECA said the 2012 series is his favorite turtles interpretation, my man! So yeah, looks like there are some 2012 fans over at NECA so hopefully we'll be seeing quite a lot in this subline.

If I had to guess I'd say Snakeweed is probably one of the first villains they will do because he obviously has so much potential as a figure, plus he's quite unique compared to other villains we see across the TMNTverse.

What other villain could be in that first two? Well, they could go right to Shredder but I'm hoping they focus on some of the more unique characters that series has to offer, like Tigerclaw for example.

I think some people are just fine with vintage (probably due to some kind of rationalized nostalgia hurdle), but folks like me have waited more than three decades to see this level of fidelity to the source material (e.g. toon, films, comics etc.).

But, I do admit that we've crossed the saturation point by a good margin.

I loved the 2012 series. In fact, when I came upon those first, totally screen inaccurate (but on their own, bada$$ looking) Playmates 2012 series turtles on the first Walmart shipper to hit stores, that is truly what reignited my more than a decade long deep dive into TMNT collecting. I committed in that moment to finally collect a TMNT line in its entirety as a fulfillment of that childhood dream.

And I did. 100% complete - including all global variants - of Playmates 2012 series figures, carded/boxed. Plus another set opened. And complete set of vehicles/playsets, opened. And probably most proudly just because of how much more legwork it took a complete set of 2012 series Mega Bloks/Construx (with the exception of the not produced but probably production sampled final blind bag series).

It was the success of this series, and of its various toy lines and merchandising, that undoubtedly opened the door, no, floodgates to everything that has been going on since.

And yes, when NECA came along to finally bring us toon-accurate, film-accurate, comic-accurate figures, well, that's REALLY what I wanted to truly fulfill that childhood dream (alongside vintage too, the OG). Those 2012 turtles were the catalyst for it all.

Not only that but once I was trucking those toy aisles daily/weekly looking for 2012 figs, I was easily sucked into other side hustles. Black Series. Legends. Other NECA product. You name it, just about. I started an Instagram and distracted myself from the Trump situation with toy photography; toy collecting became my life.

Covid hit and I looked around and felt trapped by everything. Been working on offloading everything that was a dumb, frivolous distraction ever since. I even plan to sell my 2012 carded figures once I get to through the rest.

But as I've cut out nearly everything else, as a TMNT collector at heart, I stick selectively to these NECA dream fulfillment lines.

And the reason I told this story is this. As much as I love the 2012 show, and loved collecting its figures, I will never buy another piece of 2012 merch again (unless it's those production sample mega construx blind bag figures, lol). Not from NECA or anyone else. Been there, done that.

But I do feel perfectly happy to pass the torch from my generation of dream fulfillment lines to the next. In fact, NECA, I beg of you - finally finish and end the FW/90's lines for good so I can call it a dream fulfilled and move on. Smash the hell out of this 2012 line and make all those younger fans happy. It is time. Senior citizenry awaits!

I always hated the 2012 playmates turtles and especially Splinter. I remember the toys being leaked before we saw any real footage and they really gave me a bad impression of the series. I’m glad this is happening since Revoltech only did the 4 turtles.

I loved the 2012 series and this is freaking awesome. I've got what I consider to be a mostly complete set of the Playmates 2012 figures and I think they're a lot of fun for the most part. They're toys, and I am increasingly excited about buying toys and paying toy prices. Having said that I can't wait to see what NECA comes up with.

Snakeweed would be a great first villain but I'd love to see Groundchuck as well. Playmates did him pretty dirty.

Me too, mostly MOC and thought it was a really fun line. My biggest gripe at the time was the epic fail of inter-line-scale between characters.

Snakeweed would look glorious with the NECA signature style.
