r/TMNT is the most active TMNT community on the internet. Compared to this dying forum it's like night and day. Besides some fanart followings on other social media it's the most active TMNT place right now.

I do. The sub is more active, sure, but not always in the best way.

I think I posted there one single time a while ago? Other than that, nope.

No, but I lurk. Not really any more, but when I came back here last year and saw how dead it was I hoped to give Reddit a shot.

I don’t know what the demographics are at that sub, but there typically isn’t any conversations I feel like I’d enjoy being a part of. Basically every post is either blatant karma farming or some casual asking what all they need to read before Last Ronin.

This place lost a lot of people but I still enjoy it. (Seems like the mods went a little nuts with the ban hammer after I left, after not using it enough for years).

I don't think the Technodrome community is dying yet. Discussions are still continuting, and most the users ever online was as recently as 31 March 2025.

That sub would be more accurately far less active if the karma farming behavior and very low effort nonsense stopped. Filling it with annoyingly pointless BS isn't really any better than it being less active.

i.e. Nobody cares that you finally "got the book," this isn't FB, we don't need to know every little thing you do. Come back when you read it and actually have something to say about it, at which point it is worthy of a post (maybe).

And that one certain karma farmer type (if you lurk enough you prob know the one) needs to be banned from all the subs she(?) spams with the same crap every damn day. Looking at her history, she'll alter the same questions for various subs and spam them all over. People tried to tell her she could make certain topics all ONE post and she seemed to grasp that...for a moment.


Maybe I'm just an old grouch now, but "kids these days" don't seem too capable of conversations that are worth having anymore. There's so little of substance coming from much of them. And the younger Risers seem to be more interested in playing dolls with their own mental RP with it and coming up with their own "headcanon" than discussing anything canon in the franchise others can actually relate to and care about.

That's reddit in a nutshell, I'm afraid. The place is one huge circlejerk. Protip: the larger a sub is, the more it suffers from typical reddit BS. r/TMNT has 124,000 members as of today. It's not a small sub by any means. The best reddit communities tend to be smaller ones on average.

I swear the posts in there have gotten dumber since I saw this thread. Everything that gets engagement makes my eyes roll out of my head.

Let us know if you scored TMNT #1 first print, Turtlemania, or some other interesting rarity, but who cares if you bought something actively in print?

There is occasionally discussions there about various comics, old eps of the cartoons, etc. But yeah the majority of posts are just people posting pics of their new toy collections or a "current" IDW comic collection, for some reason.

I got sick and tired of that place with all of the "Which version of specific character is your favorite?" threads

Not trying to call this person out and I hope (and assume) it's no one here, but posts like this (on Reddit today) are why people need to [re]learn how to have conversations online.

It's an empty post, and empty posts (imo) are annoying. They take up your time to read, but generate no conversation or comment. (It's the kind of thing we have "random thought" threads purposely for. Yet even those sometimes still end up in conversations because someone is posting something interesting or relatable, or whatever.)

If it's a thought that is worth it to you (the Reddit user in the quote) to post, then show us why. Even if WE aren't into the idea, at least if you had a fully developed thought worth sharing it would make it less wasted time reading it. Don't tell us it would "be amazing" but not give any reason why and then say not to ask why you chose 1996. Something about "that era" must be appealing enough to flavor a TMNT film in a way that you would like... so what is it?



It's basically in line with the trend of people, prob esp young ones, who seem to interact by posting things that are little more than a prompt. They have a very vague thought, post "what if" and then seem to expect others to do the work of actually forming that idea for them. :roll:

And as an off-shoot, the would-be fanfic writers or people who think they're making a new series/movie, but post on the sub wanting ideas. Seeking input on how to smooth out something or whatever is understandable, but literally... "I can't come up with any ideas" right out of the gate? No. Sorry. It's no longer your idea then, is it? It's just you taking the ideas someone else offers, if they were so foolish to do so.

Another idiot I’m sick of seeing: this autistic troll makes the same post about Dirtbag in Manhattan Project like every other week. He rewords it slightly, but all he does is say that he thought Dirtbag was actually Rat King. I’ve seen it like 5 different times now lol.

I used to go on Reddit quite a bit, but deleted my account a while ago. There are some good sub threads on there for TMNT, and in general comic discussion. I have thought about lurking again, but then I don't lol.

Yet another recent all time high. 19 595 users were online on 4 June 2025. I know this website currently has serious technical problems.

I'm convinced at this point some people on r/TMNT are bots since I keep seeing the same topics re-posted by different people every few days. It's gotten really noticeable if you visit there regularly seeing the same exact topics posted almost word for word but the usernames are different.

Other than that it's just people posting pics of their toy collections or whatever comic they picked up, or the same generic questions about the cartoons asking people what they liked or didn't like about them.
