Is this more Turtles Forever crap where the Mirage universe is literally black and white? Because that's stupid as sh** and doesn't even make any sense (the covers? Vol. 2? hello?).

In my opinion it looks really good it is kind of like Roger Rabbit style

My headcanon is that any instance of black-and-white "Turtle Prime" isn't the Mirage Universe we know, but a universe where issue one happened and then the universe itself stayed on that pallete/style.

No, it's crap. And a bit demeaning to Mirage at large. It's as if to say, "Mirage was black and white, but the NEW Turtle universes have evolved beyond those dinosaurs!"

Okay, agree to disagree, your opinion is vaild but I think it looks good

It feels like 2004 again somehow.

And probably a small detail, but this is the first Drome thread I can remember in which the first post shows off an image of the 2nd issue in a newly announced series before the first issue!

Arguably the biggest selling point of Battle Nexus is that it features the return of the original Shredder from Kevin Eastman and Peter Laird's Mirage Comics TMNT run. Fittingly, this villain is still rendered in that classic black-and-white style. He'll be joined by Metalhead from the 2012 animated series, Slash from the IDW universe, and Ninjara, who is making her IDW debut here. These four villains have been handpicked to defeat the Turtles in this high-stakes tournament.
What an odd assortment but I get the idea. IDW Slash seems like a weird choice given his character arc, but he is a great foil to fight Mikey.

Was kind of hoping we'd finally get SOME answer about Oroku Yoshi.

And I agree, the whole b&w gimmick (or the b&w with just red bandanas) has always irked me.

It was the only picture in the article that would let me grab it's direct link. Issue 1's cover is in the article's gallery though.

I mean it's just more non-canon crossover stuff like the Godzilla mini just announced or Power Rangers or Street Fighter. It doesn't really matter.

Hooray! You fixed it! :tcool:

EDIT:
Oh, wow, impressive that they already showed the covers (A & B) to the first 5 issues already! Potential Spoilers be darned!

Ninjara is gonna be a part of this, Sophie Campbell has posted two new concept art of her, I love her IDW design.

Pretty sure that this IS canon. They wouldn't be introducing IDW's version of Ninjara here and creating fight pairings that perfectly tie into each character's development in the ongoing if it wasn't. Tom Waltz, Sophie Campbell, and others from the main book are also on writing duty.

Interesting that you'd assume that Ninjara would be Raph's opponent, but his cover has him facing off with Alopex.

Seems a little strange. Why bring in IDW Ninjara from the IDW universe in the Battle Nexus? Why not bring in actual Archie Ninjara?

Well they decided to introduce her in this

Just seems weird. Why use a story with a multiversal platform to introduce someone... not from the multiverse?

She is probably from IDW universe like Slash, probably Shredder from Mirage universe and Metalhead from TMNT 2012 universe recruited them to fight Turtles from different universes and IDW Turtles might be able to defeat them

CyberCubed 07-25-2025 04:27 PM

I don't see how this is canon with IDW Slash there. And they should of just used Archie Ninjara. What's the point of making a new one for this?

It will be explained in this comic

CyberCubed 07-25-2025 04:32 PM

Most of the crossovers are not canon. Only the ghostbuster ones and Usagi crossovers are canon in IDW
