Old show question.

Why was Stocktronics and TCRI left out of the old show?

Karpo_007 12-26-2003 04:16 PM

Because it has almost nothing to do with the original TMNT, whereas the new Show is heavily based on it.

Can you please take a minute and read the FAQs?

Taloniss 12-26-2003 07:17 PM

Because they wouldn't fit in with the way the characters were portrayed?

Ninja Tiptup 12-28-2003 04:21 AM

Technically (and loosely) there was Stocktronics, but it was just Stockman (the whimpy white guy) and his cleaning lady. Just a lab... nothing special. They never refered to it as Stocktronics, but that was basically what it was.

TCRI was out because there were no Utroms (didn't keep it from being the movies though) and Krang and Shredder were the ones that created the mutagen which changed the turtles into humanoid like reptiles.

But Maaaaster...My cone is melting in the sun

Jarrah White 12-28-2003 03:18 PM

I kinda prefere the new Baxter.

Deathknight 12-28-2003 08:46 PM

New Baxter is way better, Baxter Stockman was one of my least favorite old show characters. Anyway, it was left out because it didn't have too much relation to the comics and it would take a lot of time to explain how Shredder got the mutagen and such.

Jamezer 12-28-2003 09:56 PM

The old cartoon, if no one noticed, was more taegeted to little kids. To name a lab, would have been a pointless detail. :D

Ah but so is the new show. The difference that Laird is helping a lot with the details.

Jarrah White 12-29-2003 04:17 AM

The new show isn't targeted for little kids, it's targeted for more mature audiences.

Karpo_007 12-29-2003 06:16 AM

Anyone who has watched the show should know it's ceratinly not for little kids. I won't go into spoilers since all might not have seen every episode. It's rated 7, so it's suitable for children, but certainly not written for them.

Valorxii 12-29-2003 06:26 AM

its on fox kids, that should tell you something.

but you know batman of the future is for kids to. its primarilty for them. the old one isnt necesarilty for little kids. its got some pretty witty jokes in there to appreciate, likewise the new show does.

Karpo_007 12-29-2003 06:39 AM

No, the channel does not have anything to do with who it's written for. And Batman Beyond is not written for little children either, and neither is Batman TAS. Still they are sutable for children to watch too.

Valorxii 12-29-2003 06:41 AM

The show will match the content of the channel. I never said they are for little kids, but they are for kids primarily.

How do you know who they are written for?

Karpo_007 12-29-2003 06:46 AM

By watching it, try it sometime. There are many jokes that will go staright over little kids' head for example. And of course the apparent violence. It is not written for kids, but without doubt they are part of the target audience too. They are the ones that go out and buy the toys.

Valorxii 12-29-2003 06:49 AM

Don't be obnoxious, I have of course seen the new show and I am a big fan of it.

There are also plenty of jokes in the old cartoon that will pass by younger people. They are acknoledging older fans, but i wouldnt say targeting.

If not kids, then who does the show target would you think?

Karpo_007 12-29-2003 06:52 AM

I don't remember any joke from the old cartoon that kids wouldn't get, but I trust you.

It's targeted for everyone who likes action, good humour, and Ninja turtles. Not any specific age group alone.

Valorxii 12-29-2003 06:55 AM

I can appreciate that.

Ah hell, I agree with you, but you know I believe on technicality that it would be classed as a kids show. If you had to pin a demographic.

But it is not necesarrily something I would agree with.
