After 30 years, Marvel publisher Dan Buckley will be stepping down from the company in mid-2027 and handing the reins over to Brad Winderbaum, who currently oversees Marvel TV and Animation. He will be joined by former Disney Music GM David Abdo as General Manager.

It's because of the move to California. Some staffers will inevitably not want to move to the other end of the country.Even among it's creatives, there will be some east coasters that could still work from home but prefer being able to go the offices if they have a problem or just to discuss work in person.

Marvel's latest stunt in the comics was to make a 9/11 version of Captain America the new Miracleman

The majority of Marvel staff are to remain with the company in the move to Burbank.

Next, Wacker took on the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

Marvel comic fans have long complained that the comics seem to be taking their cues from the wildly successful and popular movies. In an endless push for synergy between the movies and comics, the comics are altered to fit the cinematic universe. Many have felt that the tail has been wagging the dog.

Wacker pointed out that after moving to California, the comic offices would physically be in the same building as the movie offices. According to Wacker, the MCU’s success has created the assumption that the comics should relate to and match the films.

Wacker emphatically stated, “That is backwards.”

In his first meeting with Kevin Feige, Wacker was told that it’s not their job to follow the movies. To reinforce that, Feige attended the Marvel Summit yesterday in New York and told them their job was to be 15 years ahead of the cinematic universe.

Marvel Comics should be the creative engine.

Wacker added that the comics are clearly better when they lead, not follow.

Hard truths were spoken at the Marvel Summit.
