Vehicle-Ramming Attack at the Tiergarten Park

On Saturday, 25 July 2026, a van was driven towards a crowd of people near the Tiergarten Park in Berlin, Germany during the 2026 Berlin Pride Celebration event, killing at least one person and wounding many others. German police and the Federal Government of Germany suspects a 21 year old Islamist.

Shot dead later. He was a German citizen however…

Horrible.

No one should have to think about being killed because of attending a Pride festival.

But the suspect was linked to Islamic extremism, wasn't he? Him being a German citizen doesn't really mean much. He most likely has a Migrationshintergrund if he's Muslim.

Just noting before people do the usual wailing of immigrants or illegals doing this that he must have either been born there or lived there a long time if he was citizen.

Ah ok.

But, to be honest, that would surprise me even less. I don't think 1st generation immigrants are usually the ones that have trouble assimilating. Because, normally, those move abroad as adults with the intentions of getting a job and raising a family.

It's usually the 2nd generations that end up having assimilation problems since they often end up growing up in low income neighbourhoods with deep social issues, for starters. And then, they also often develop identity issues, not knowing whether they belong to the nation they were born in or their parents' nation.
