I still need to read through issue 39, just… I’m just waiting I guess. I dunno.

Coola Yagami 08-24-2026 05:59 PM

My god, issue 41 is gonna hurt. I was gonna say 'ugh... please don't let this be another Metalhead goes haywire story', especially this close to the end, but I'm glad they threw Groundchuck and Dirtbag in there. Kinda like the Lotus story also threw in Tokka and Rahzar.

ToTheNines 08-25-2026 05:18 AM

Yeah, I feel you guys. SMA canceled, NECA lost the license, Paramount wants to “Sonicfy” the upcoming movie series. Makes one ask “what’s the point?”

Some good news though. Don’t know if you’ve seen in the TMNTA Continues thread, but Schoening has done/is doing some covers for Turtles Club and Dream Studios. Looks like he’s also doing a couple of pages for an upcoming multiverse story and is in talks to draw a whole issue for an ‘87-based story.

Never The End!

neatoman 08-25-2026 07:51 AM

Does anyone know what "Sonic-fy" even means?

ToTheNines 08-25-2026 08:11 AM

My best guess is that some version of the turtles (probably FW or a cheap knockoff of them) is going to be teleported to “the real world”. In other words, kind of like Roger Rabbit.

Heyowakka 08-25-2026 03:18 PM

I just assumed it meant they wanted a live-action/cgi hybrid PG to PG-13 family movie that will actually make them money at the box office.
Mutant Mayhem’s numbers compared to any of the Sonic trilogy’s is pretty sad.

So like... Is 41 going to be written with the foreknowledge that it'll be the last or is it just going to be a random ending?

With the exception of that 2-page spread, probably not. It was probably written/drawn before the news hit that 41 was going to be it.

It would be kinda appropriate if it ended abruptly just like most episodes of the series (everything between seasons 3 and 7).

But, of course, TMNT was unlike most comparable shows of its era in actually having "big event" season enders and then an actually decent series ender. Of course, we're not really counting that urban legend "April's Story" episode.

I’m quite positive this will be the story they had planned for #50. They’ve been leading up to it periodically cutting away to those Nazi geese. I think something big is going to happen with that Heart of K’avila macguffin (and maybe Professor McGuffin lol)

Also the 6 page back up will be all about Future Mike.

Which is an odd way to end it, if issue 50 was gonna be the end. Like one last Shredder scheme, not weird made up villains.

Might have seemed too obvious. Even though I don’t see this series as an actual bridge to season 8, I think no matter how long it went on, Dregg and some version of the Red Sky events would always loom in their future, some version of Turtles Forever, etc.

I personally expected something Pantheon-centric, since #35 ends with Hob swearing vengeance.

Ace Duck and his Nazi rogues from a Special that came out over 2 years ago is certainly an out there choice. But they had to follow up on April possessing such a powerful artifact eventually. We’ll see.

The book is out now right? Making sure so I can save myself the trip.

ToTheNines 08-29-2026 07:22 AM

Yeah it came out last week.

Kind of a ho-hum issue. Basically exactly what you’d expect from a “Metalhead goes haywire” story. And it doesn’t even really get resolved because it segues immediately into #41. Also thought it was kinda lame how Metalhead and Mondo’s lair doesn’t really look any different than the turtles’. I imagined it would be unique and interesting.

Things I did like:

- Evil Metalheads color scheme.
- Michelangelo’s resourcefulness saving the day.
- Metalhead’s POV shots looking like an 8-bit video game.

And that’s a wrap on Dan Schoening’s last full issue on this book. See you next month for the ending.

So how nazi-like are the "Nazi Geese" really?

they did gas the turtles at the end of this issue

Coola Yagami 08-31-2026 05:12 PM
