Yeah the Splinter stuff had me rolling my eyes. I know he “wasn’t himself” while he was Ujigami but everything he did was to protect his sons. I can’t imagine he regrets it all that much.
I’m not too invested in this story but the pacing was MUCH better this month after two rough issues. And still better than the Jason Aaron run. Was anyone able to ascertain how long ago in-universe Ujigami killed those folks? It has to either be ~1 month ago or ~10 months ago. |

I liked the issue a lot, it's a fun ghost story stuff mixed in with Chinese and Japanese history. Anyone find it funny the Chinese writer took the Turtles to Chinatown? If we get a Mexican writer someday I wouldn't be surprised if the Turtles take a trip to Mexico.

He will remake the Jerusalem arc from the Archie series and show Jews and muslims fighting each other while making social commentary about the middle east.

Perhaps the story will have more themes of love, tolerance, compassion, and forgiveness.
Even if these illegal immigrants are international criminals and mass murderer like Shredder, they should be accepted. Karai sold her soul to an evil dragon for the sake of her clan, you can't imagine the mental pressure she endured! Even though she repeatedly irredeemable behavior, everyone should forget everything she did. As a good mother, Tang Shen decided to invite two person who broke her son's spine, nearly killing him, and a murderer who killed her family in the past, to have a Christmas dinner together. |
I generally have no problem with writers bringing in their own culture or beliefs into comics, the chinese writer is writing about Chinese myths/gods and taking the Turtles to Chinatown, and Sophie was writing a lot of lesbian and transgender characters because that was her thing during the Mutant Town arc.
Most of the IDW writers prior even in the mini-series were white bread so we were getting a lot of white comics. It's also why the Turtles always, "talked white," instead of talking like "brothers" because we've never have a black TMNT writer. |
