IDW Goes Dark: Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles (2027)

Quote:

New York Comic Con week is here, and IDW Publishing is going big with signings, exclusives, a Friday panel, and at least one major announcement planned for every weekday. Fans can expect news involving Star Trek, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, horror, and a still-classified reveal coming during IDW’s panel Friday at 11:15 a.m. in Room 406.2.

The announcements begin with IDW Goes Dark, an ambitious initiative that will spread the publisher’s horror imprint across its entire lineup throughout 2027. The event will bring darker stories to some surprising properties, including Hello Kitty, Sonic the Hedgehog, Godzilla, Star Trek, and Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, alongside new original projects.

Sounds stupid.

I won’t even say what I think that Friday announcement is. Check in here around lunch time and see if I’m having a manic breakdown or just rolling my eyes.

Didn't they already start with Hun and the zombie Purple Dragons and whatnot?

I wonder if this means non-canon crossovers or the main IDW series, could be both.

Or perhaps they just want to make their own IDW Absolute Universe.

Shouldn't we just assume it'd be like that old X-Files: Conspiracy IDW event? Where X-Files loosely crossed over with different IDW licensed properties of the time?

Except this may be sort of their version of Blackest Night when DC went company-wide with it.

Could be pretty fun. Off the top of my head i see a Marvel “ruins” dark-satire thst fits the marvel satire of Mirage.

I mean just in general TMNT woukd probably be about body horror. Though that would be very typical.

Wow… jaw dropping…

This seems more like a thematic experiment to promote their "IDW Dark" imprint.

They haven't done any company-wide crossover stuff in a loooong time, but I do remember that stuff. It was always lame a whole, but it would end up producing a couple of cool stories nontheless.

Infestation was awful, but the Ghostbusters issue was really good and ended up being canon to the then-upcoming Erik Burnham run.

Infestation II was a little better. The only thing I really remember is Tristan's story, which was excellent. They kinda pulled a bait and switch (notice this was around the same time they rugpulled on the red masks) and didn't admit it wasn't canon until much later. Which is fine. That one dude here uploaded it in grayscale so you can pretend it's a Mirage story if you can headcanon Old Hob in there somehow.

Conspiracy was pointless and the TMNT issue sucked. I did enjoy The Crow and Transformers issues though.
