The Feather...
My gosh, I always remembered in the back of my mind, but was just watchin my Great Boldini video, and ahhh whats with the series' obsession with tickling people's feet with a feather as a way of toture and interigation?!?! Its so creepy! I mean damn, the kids! Won't someone please think of the children?! This is too friggen kinky for a kids show. How did parents band the nunchuks and not the feather?! Come one!!!
|
I think it was meant as a joke, as tickling isn't exactly torture. And what 8 year old knows that it can be kinky?
|
It was a complete insult to TMNT, torture scenes need to be horrific.

It was the ORIGINAL SERIES, what else were you expecting? The tickling scene was far from "insulting", it was a pretty original method of torture |
I thought it was really funny. It was a joke, because tickling isn't really a horrible torture, but the kids thought it was funny.

I figure "tickle torture" is something that's familiar to most children. Surely we've all been held down and tickled by an older sibling or relative at least once in our lives. Its a common experience for kids, and isn't always something they want to have happen.

i thought it was pretty funny stuff
|
I thought it was stupid, even back then.
|
Heh.. I saw that as a bizarre form of Chinese tickle torture. Designed with kids in mind.
Cause... you know that old saying as far as 'other things' go: 'Erotic' is using a feather. 'Kinky' is using the whole chicken. :goof: |

They had to do it cuz they can't show horrific torturing. I'm surprized how much more violence or references to gore/violence are allowed in the newer show. Example would be when the showed Shredder's head chopped off (little kids didn't know he was gonna be a Utrom). And when Baxter was shown with his eye patch for the first time, it obviously implies that Shredder poked his eye out or something. Or when Hun approached Baxter before that, they didn't entirely show the details, but it was implied. I myself don't mind it of course, I'm just surprized the censorship wasn't as strong this time around, esp. with all those TV-Y, and TV-14 ratings and such.
|
Yeah, but see, ratings don't mean anything. They're just arbitrary. What matters is that society's values change and because of that, more and more sex and violence is being shown on tv. It's really a continous spiral of degeneration, propelled by certain shows constantly pushing the envelope in their own era. Trust me, you think this is bad, I guarantee you one day they'll be showing full nudity and gore in prime time, on all kinds of channels, where everyone has access too it. And although there will be an initial wave of bitching, eventually people will get accustomed to it and it will be considered the norm.

Besides, they obviously couldn't do anything horrific because this was happening to two children. I mean think about it! You're 8 years old watching Zach and Caitlin (who aren't any younger than I was at the time) getting taken hostage by mob goons. The last thing I'd want to see is the Rat King threatening to knaw their toes off. That'd be too disgusting! |
