Where did they get the weapons???
 

Hun brings up a good point....where did the TMNT geth their weapons....an no it's not Hun's momma!!!

Cool one man! I look at it like this, having made knives myself, I think they forged/made them themselves, and as they got better at it, they just made better tools and weapons. However, being in the big apple where there are several martial arts outlets and wholesale shops, they also could have gleaned a few items here and there.
And now, with friends who are human, they can just ask them to go on runs to pick stuff up for them. There are books, I know, that teach and offer tips on all manner of survival and self deffense issues.
(Museum replicas and palladin press both have some interesting titles, as does ohara publishing)
All part of their upbringing man.

I think this has been discussed many times since TMNT was first created, but just for the new kids...

I think they made their own wepons. I'm sure they all started with make-shift stuff make from scrap floating in the sewers. Although bo and nunchaku are fairly easy to make, swords and sai would be harder. Especially decent quality ones. But if Don and the others can create many of the comforts of home in the sewers, I don't see how a forge would be anymore difficult.

There's also the theory that Splinter returned to Yoshi's apartment and took some of his possessions.

i just do these to strike up conversation. The Yoshi theory is valid....and in the new toon we do see Leo forging new Katanas when his oldones are trashed by sheredder. so i guess it's do-able. bos and chucks are easy...sais and swords r tough....but it's just one of those things that laird and eastman haven't really given us an answer to

I agree that I think that they made their own. Obviously, if Leo forged his own in that episode, then they know how to.

But, it could also be true that they took some from Yoshi's apartment. Maybe those were their first ones, and they learned to make their own from those.

The Turtles must be highly resourceful, Donatello has all his insanely sophisiticated gear and all the stuff they have in their den. There's also the question of how they get money to buy supplies and pizza.

They or Splinter probably just made the weapons or who knows, the Turtles have so many adventures who knows they might have procured them from some place...the possiblities are endless with the TMNT! :D

I think thats a real cool idea that they got them from Yoshi.

I agree, he probably raided Master Yoshi's apartment after he became a mutant. But the new series may have another answer for this, at some point. Remember there's that whole mystery raised in 'The Ultimate Ninja' about how Splinter knows the Tengu's ways. Which will be answered in the Big Brawl. If you've read the plot synopsis for those 4 episodes, then you know what I'm hinting about.

We had a discussion on this awhile ago. Mostly what was mentioned was that they found money, recycled, and took money from robbers that they stopped.

My theory - There's an awful lot of money dropped into sewer grates. That, and recycling would be my best bet. Unless Donnie managed to sell some stuff online. :wink: Also, alot of the stuff they had I'm sure they "saved" from the garbage and fixed up. :)

Mikey slipped the pizza guy a ten in TMNT1 so I guess the idea they got the money from robbers was a good idea
but when they got back from beating the foot clan when they attacked April, they mentioned it being like their first time?

They're ninja...they snuck in a store without setting off an alarm and came back out with what they liked.

u know i thought about taht a while back to. i just stuck w/ the idea that they made them.

i agree with the making theory it easy to make your own nun chucks i even made sum once and don could of jus found a long peice of wood for his bo staff the sai and katana i am not sure about.

Well i make my own swords, chucks,staffs. altough i got the metal for the swords from homdepot. but they might have fished stuff like that from the sewer. as for the staff i used a long rake handle and put some purple electrical tape on the center,and the chucks were easy ,i used a rake handle and cut it into 4 peices and took some chain and put a "u" nail to hold the chain in place

I would guess that part of their training as ninja would include how to make their own weapons.

hopefully future episodes would indicate this issue.....
