Splinter 03-28-2004 06:24 PM

Because it's the crappy Image Comics. :)

Coola Yagami 03-28-2004 06:26 PM

In the Image series the TMNT suffer alot of mutilations. Raph gets the side of his face blasted off, losing his eye, so he wears Casey's mask to cover up. He eventually becomes the Shredder and leads their clan.

Don falls from a helicopter and breaks his shell. He fuses witha nearby android and becomes a cyborg. The cyborg side was trying to take over his mind so he went evil for a few issues till he got it under control.

Leo eventually loses a hand, so I guess he still had it in that issue.

Why is Leos Head band red, and can a turtle actually live with out its shell?

Peanut 03-28-2004 06:36 PM

Originally all the TMNT wore red headbands.

Naruto 03-28-2004 06:41 PM

Don was actually on the brink of death when that cyborg thing fused with him. Basically speaking, being a cyborg saved Don's life at the moment.

Naruto 03-28-2004 08:22 PM

After thinking long and hard, i think donnie would of been able to fix himself back to his normal body and get rid of the cyborg and fix Raphs eye. ALso stitch back Leo's hand.. Oh well. hmm that still didnt awnser my question about a turtle living with out a shell. Can it or no? That would be intreasting to see them with out a shell.

You know splinter I usually agree with you but I've just gotten done rereading this series now that I'm a bit older from when I first got them...
I have to totally disagree with you...this comic was awsome....and is tuns better then what Laird is doing right now......if anything these comics are a great What If kinda deal. I also love the fact that they made fun of Venus.
It's odd you don't like this series I really love how splinter is perceived in this book bat or not it was awesome when he broke makos nose.
The don thing I didn't like that much when I first was reading these but as the series went on I enjoyed him being so differnt....and raph becoming the shredder basically was a stoke of genius. I mean hell the Art is better then what we have now also lol.
It's not in the continuity but this is like I said before a really great what if type of deal I still wish till this day that we had gotten toys from this comic.

No, a turtle can not live without their shell, their ribs are fused to it. The carapace, bridges and plastron make up their body.

The shell of a turtle is part of its skeletal system. In other words, it is outer bone that grows from their inner bones. No turtle can live without the shell, and they do not shed their shells as they grow. If the turtle has lost any of its shell, it is a serious situation that needs to be professionally treated.

Actually, they shed the upper layer of their scutes, they dont shed the actual shell. Just the scales(scutes).

Tigershard 03-28-2004 09:58 PM

I got really lucky. I got 50 TMNT comics off ebay for like $26, and 22 issues of them were volume 3 (the rest were volume 1). A good place to order back issues is www.milehighcomics.com . I was missing issue #5 of volume 3 and I got it there for $1.20.
