Panda Khan: The Action Figure

Where did Panda Khan come from? I know he was never featured in the cartoon, and he most certainly was never in any of the video games.

Was he in any of the comics?

Here is a link to his action figure:

Any thoughts? He's one of my favorite Ninja Turtles action figures; I just don't know where he came from!

"Eat blazin' electric death, toitles!" - Rocksteady, from "Shredder & Splintered"

Wow... His toy profile says that he's a samurai from the future! An earth ruled by pandas... How bizarre. :embarass:

Azraelito 09-27-2002 03:36 PM

yeah it rules.
i think i have see him in usagi yogimbo comics.
i was going to make the same question akakkaka.

Nturtle 09-27-2002 05:25 PM

wow, cool, maybe he was one of those 1 time only for a split second kind of characters...

Ninja Turtles Cartoon Fan 09-27-2002 05:37 PM

There are a few episodes of the cartoon I haven't seen, but I doubt he was ever in the series. Nonetheless, he's a cool figure.

"Not to be picky, but exactly where are we herding these oversized house pests?" - Raphael, from "Big Bug Blunder"

There are lots of TMNT toys that never appeared in the cartoon, but Azraelito maybe right, I haven't really read Usagi Yojimbo though

Ninja Turtles Cartoon Fan 09-27-2002 05:44 PM

There was a comic about Usagi Yojimbo?

"Man? Is that how you refer to me? What's next? Rat-faced dude guy?!" - Splinter, from "Michaelangelo Meets Bugman"

Nturtle 09-27-2002 05:44 PM

Machias Banshee 09-27-2002 05:45 PM

*ahem* I actually found a small graphic novel of Usagi at my library! I was so surprised, i read the whole thing...it was neat! :D

Ninja Turtles Cartoon Fan 09-27-2002 05:48 PM

Did Usagi Yojimbo come from the Archie series or the Mirage series or . . . ?

"That was a note! You were supposed to read it, not eat it!"
"I thought that sandwich was sliced awfully thin!"

Donatello and Irma, from "Donatello's Degree"

Nturtle 09-27-2002 05:48 PM

yup, it looks preety cool!!! "Graphic Novel" another fancy word for a comic book :P

azure turtle 09-27-2002 06:17 PM

NTC Fan: Usagi Yojimbo was actually a crossover character. His comic book is still ongoing, and it's being published by Dark Horse. In Turtle Soup #1, he actually battles Leonardo in a one-on-one battle. :)

Karpo_007 09-28-2002 05:29 AM

It was originally pubished by mirage, but nowdays by Darkhorse...

Well, to be technical, a Graphic Novel is to a comic book what a written novel is to a short story.

Actually, Fantagraphics was the original publisher. Then Mirage picked it up for a brief run. After Mirage's run, Dark Horse picked up the title, and Usagi's been there ever since. I looked this up a while ago, since I was curious about where the Usagi Yojimbo comic started. I did a search at mycomicshop.com and this is what I found.

Machias Banshee 09-28-2002 11:13 AM

ok sorry, I still can't help but crack up when I hear comics being refered to as Graphic novels, of course I love comics and have respect for the paiinstaking time it takes to make them. But it still sounds funny :P

Azraelito 09-28-2002 11:54 AM

kakakka usagi yogimbo rules i read up to number 25,now they are in number 62 i think.

Kali 09-28-2002 12:09 PM

I know, Nturtle. It's like people are trying to make them sound sophisticated. Most people who use the term "Graphic Novel" just don't wanna be labeled "comic book readers" because many people think comics are still just for kids. It's not the term that cracks me up, but when people go "It's NOT a comic book, it's a Graphic Novel! Comic books are for kids!"
