Non-English theme

I've been listening to the overseas versions of the old toon theme, I really like the French one, I can't get enough of it "Doku Ninja, Doku Ninja"

DrSpengler 05-04-2004 06:33 PM

Germany, because it's absolutely hilarious.

Japan is pretty good, though. I actually memorized it out of boredom and sing it upon request at work.

TheRATKING 05-04-2004 06:35 PM

i like the japanese one

cormano 05-04-2004 09:54 PM

where can I hear them?

GK Punk 05-04-2004 10:14 PM

The Technodrome's Sound section should have most of them.

I love the German theme. I Love NTurtles music video to it also.

Japanese theme. Hero Turtles just reminds me of how stupid British censorship is. The Japanese theme actually tries and susceeds at rewriting the song well into another language, and not losing the original feel. The Russian theme sounds like Poverati drunk in the shower.

That Matt Guy 05-05-2004 01:59 AM

The Russian one.

You're giving it wayyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy too much heat...it honestly worked rasther well, granted the Japanese version is better.

kitsunepixie 05-05-2004 07:31 PM

The French one is cute, though I like the Japanese one, too...hm, decisions, decisions. I always give Japan my support anyway, so I'll give my vote to France this time around. :)

MGMae 05-05-2004 09:51 PM

The German one wins, hands down.
At first I thought the Russian one, because I nearly snorted up a lung.
And then I thought the Japanese, because it best captured the song in its own way while still being faithful. (sugoi de!)

And then I heard the German version...which combined both positive points. Plus, it sort of sounds like Avery Brooks (voice o the Shredder) singing in German.
Can't beat that evil laugh at the end either. :D

Sounds to me like a bunch of old fokes ready for the retirement home on vodka!

damnhooligan 05-09-2004 08:31 PM

I love the Russian theme.

Ninja Tiptup 05-09-2004 09:53 PM

Where's the Hebrew theme? That one's rad!

You can't do much better than the Japanese and German ones though. They just plain rock the freak'n house!

Jester 05-10-2004 06:06 AM

tortu ninja tortu ninja......but i like the german...superstriker hero turtles!!!

Drtooth 05-10-2004 08:40 AM

The Japanese one is just wonderful... it has a much catchier sound than the American one (the tune, at least). And they managed to change the lyrics without making them sound too goofy when retranslated to English. (Except the "Don't get scared" part) Plus they give April and Splinter lines in the song, which they never got over here.

Actually, it's "Tortues Ninja, Tortues Ninja" which is french for "Ninja Turtles, Ninja Turtles". I know 'cause I'm the one who sent the file.

Tigerfog 05-10-2004 02:04 PM

I'd vote for the japanese vrsion all the way. Not only do I think it's more catchy than all the other versions, but I really liked the replacement of 'we're really hip!' with April's japanese voice and 'he's a radical rat!' with Splinter cool japanese voice.
I also noticed that Donatello and Leo's voice are way lower in the japanese version... that's cool! Raph and Mike seem to have kept more or less their english voices.

As for the french version, I think it's not so good. I am french fluent and
I find the rythm and lyrics a little bit too childish:
'Ce sont des guerriers fantastiques!' (they could'be used cooler words here, NOT fantastic!)
'Ils sont les meilleurs... et font la loi!' (saying that they are the best remind me of some japanese animes' cheesy french opening like DBZ or 'Fly'.)
When translated in english, it doesn't sound so bad, but in french, it sounds terribly childish. Any french fluent people here agree with me?

Anarky 05-10-2004 02:15 PM

the german theme. it's just a piece of my youth...

Hey jetzt kommen die Hero Turtles
superstarke Hero Turtles

Tell me about it. I'm a francophone and to me, these theme songs sound corny in ways you cannnot imagine.

Tigerfog 05-10-2004 07:05 PM

Yeah, especially all the animes dubbed by 'Club Dorothee' in french like DBZ, Ranma 1/2, Sailor Moon, Fly, City Hunter (Nicky Larson) and Saint Seiya (Les chevaliers du Zodiaque). They all had openings sung by Dorothee or some other man whose name I forgot.
For example, the beginning of the french DBZ opening goes like this, for people who never heard it in french: (happy woman's voice)
Dragon ball - Zed..zed..zed... (translates like that)*
Le gentil Sangohan (the nice Gohan)
repeat*
Combat tous les mechants (fights all the bad guys)
repeat*
Il a tous les pouvoirs... (he has all the powers)

BACK ON TOPIC:
Anyways, at least in the french version of TMNT's opening we get a singer with a decent voice. Not like those Club Dorothee corny vocals!
