Tales Of the TMNT #3 previews?

Any one else looking forward to Tales Of The TMNT #3? The cover looks damn cool, even though I haven't seen it colored yet. Should be a great one.

The only Mirage comic I've read that involved the Shredder was Vol. 1 #1, and he died at the end.

I look forward to this.

FINALLY, the return of The Shredder, every time he makes a return, classics are produced

DrSpengler 05-13-2004 01:55 PM

The last time he was seen was when he got decaptitated, right?

What year was that?

So Shredder's been out of the picture for 15 years? Wow.

Makes him seem kind of unimportant.

In the Mirage series, he was kinda unimportant. Well, he had the big backstory behind him with Splinter's master, and he ran the Foot Clan, so him and his work have been behind the turtles troubles several times. But only a total of 4 issues had him, yet many more had the foot in it (in the Image comic too).

DrSpengler 05-15-2004 11:37 AM

Only 4 issues? Wow.

Did Laird not like him or something? I mean, supposedly he's the Turtles' arch nemesis but he's only been in 4 issues...

Well, he may be the TMNT's arch nemesis but he was very short lived. The Mirage TMNT (much like their new show counterparts) usually don't allow their villians an oppurtunity to live for a second round if they can help it.

Shredder appeared in TMNT Vol. 1 #1, Leonardo #1, TMNT Vol. 1 #10, TMNT Vol. 1 #20-21. He will also be in Tales of the TMNT Vol. 2 #3 + 4.

Speaking of which when is Tales #3 due out? I'm going through TMNT withdrawal over here!

^ Know how you feel. I hope it's released in a week or two, I'm reeeeaaally anticipating this one.

That's just it --- the Turtles don't have an arch-nemesis. They're a family, not superheroes. Shredder is of minimal importance compared to the TMNT's growth as characters (which is what the series is really about).

Diamond just put up the shipping list for this week. Tales #3 will be in comic shops this wednesday. :D

darthsmozers 06-07-2004 03:26 PM

They had copies at Wizard World at the TMNT table. Probably for preview purposes.

I'm looking forward to it :D

You think that because the old cartoon "exagerated" this fact. In Mirage, he was their arch enemy, but in that universe, when a villain dies, he doesn't come back (most of the time).

host_punktmy 06-07-2004 05:02 PM

I didn't like the first issue, I didn't read the second, I'm not really looking forward to the third

Raven 06-07-2004 05:04 PM

same here, the 1st issue dissappointed me, i didnt even bother picking up the second, and i might do the smae thing with this issue.

The 2nd issue of 'Tales' is totally different from the 1st, as will be the 3rd. 'Tales' has to be taken on an issue-by-issue basis, as the creative team is intended to be in continual flux.

Anyway, having said that, I'm afraid most of you are in for a disappointment, as I'm pretty super certain that Shredder is not actually going to be in 'Tales' #3. It's either a dream or a hallucination or something like that. Laird has made it pretty clear that Shredder is never to return and even if he were, I think a bigger deal would be made of it and it would take place in the on-going regular 'TMNT' series. Sorry.

If its a "wow that was a neat dream" type of thing, I'll be disappointed. Perhaps his spirit comes back to haunt the turtles/Splinter?

It would be very interesting (i.m.o.) to see someone else pick the reigns and be a new Shredder. Of course, we wouldn't find out till later that it was an imposter. I thought the direction Image took in relation to the Shredder legacy was great.

raphael_is_cool 06-08-2004 01:51 PM

I think considering it's tales that the story will take place back in time. So it will be Shredder's cloning before he returns and attacks Leo.

I think it's the idea of the cloning worms that has been expanded on
This issue looks great and I am eagerly anticipating it

EDIT: oh and for a look at the cover in colour demogoblin as well as other stuff it's up on the official site http://www.ninjaturtles.com/comics/m...vol2/03/03.htm
just in case you hadn't seen yet
