Colorless Reverie/RPG

With a sharp gasp, she woke up with a start finding that she was staring not at a bedroom wall, not at the side of a dress and not at a radio clock; instead, she saw boxes, hundreds of boxes that surrounded her like a labyrinth. She searched her memory, trying to remember exactly how she would have gotten here. There had to be a logical explanation; there was a logical explanation for everything! The last thing she remembered was feeling exhausted as she lay down on her bed. She couldnt even remember if she took off her work clothes she had worked so hard that night too; Her mind went blank as she tried to recall what she even DID at her job much less what her uniform looked like, (if she even had one).
Panic struck through her like an arrow to the air as she tried to remember other obvious facts about her life. Her mothers name was... no, she couldnt remember that. Her fathers name was... no, she couldnt remember that either. Did she have a sister, or a brother, or was she an only child? Did she live at home, or did she live in an apartment or dorm? Was she even going to college? What was her favorite color?
COLOR!
She looked frantically around, trying to disprove what she all ready knew. She was colorblind.
She pressed her back against a few more sturdy boxes and sobbed. She had to calm down, how else was she going to figure out what was going on?
Sobonim Sullins said that the best way not to panic was to sit down, close your eyes and take deep breaths. At that moment she had no earthly idea who Sobonim Sullins was, or if he even existed; but, the advise was good and that was exactly what she needed right then.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Now calm, and at least somewhat closer to her senses, she stood up and stared at her surroundings. The first step, she had decided, to remembering her past was to remember what she did know. She was 19 and... well, she was 19. It wasnt much, but it was a start and a start was better than a dead stop.
There had to be more that she could remember! She was born on December 27th, or was it October 31st? Either a Capricorn or a Scorpio. Gee, that was a big help. She was either born in Texas or in New York; she was either a Yankee or a Rebel. It wasnt working, there were too many possibilities; she ran her fingers through her hair, or tried to.
It was bad enough to wake up having no memory of how you got to where you were and then not to remember who you really where, but then to realize that you were bald?
She slowly brought her hand to eye-level; one, two fingers and a thumb… inhuman skin and she looked down at her body and moaned.
Perfect, just perfect, an inhuman body.
She was no more than an Anthropomorph, an Anthropomorphic turtle to be exact. Why couldnt she have been something more interesting? Like say a cat?
Colorless Reverie
OOC: Perhaps I should have made a post telling people about my rpg idea before I started it? Oh well, I think I will continue one any how...
But if you are to join (much gracias!) and choose to be a canon character, please take note that they are in their early twenties, i.e. 20-22.
IC:
With every aspect of her life getting down, she tried not to think of how it could possibly get worse. She needed to know where she was and what day and time it was.
Who, what, where, why and how.
She didn't know fully who she was, but at least she knew what she was... sort of; where she was, was still a question on the agenda as well as how she got there and... WHY WAS THIS HAPPENING TO HER?
She shook her head, deciding it wasn't best to think about such things and made her way out of the labyrinth of boxes. The warehouse was empty, as far as she could tell, of other sengent beings; this was good seeing how she was sure her appearance would scare any normal human being.
It was black outside, hopefully the duration until Dawn approached was long enough for her to find a better place to hide and maybe find some food as well.
'Well world' she thought, it being the first time she had ever really 'confronted' the realm. 'Here I am in all my turtleness, can you take it? Can I?' With that, she left the warehouse heading for who knows where.
(( OCC: Okay Jade, I hope I don't disappoint you... :goofygri: ))
Somewhere underneath the streets of New York City, the sound of flowing water was interrupted by shouts that echoed throughout the tunnels.
"Where the hell do you think you're going? Do you have any idea what time it is?"
"Since when did I have a mother? Get a grip, Leo. I'm going out to get a drink."
"Oh no you're not!" Leonardo grabbed Raphael by the arm as he tried to leave the lair.
"Lemme go, Leo..." Raphael hissed dangerously.
"Don't you remember what happened the last time you got a 'drink'? You came back completely wasted, and Sensei went ballistic!"
Raphael struggled until he managed to free himself from Leonardo's grasp. "Damn it, Leo! I'm twenty-two, and it's my f***ing life. Let me live it the way I want, 'kay? I don't stick my beak in your business, so quit sticking yours in mine."
Leonardo growled furiously, but Raphael turned around and began walking away.
"If you come back drunk, don't expect any of us to open the door for you!" Leonardo yelled at his retreating brother.
"Yeah yeah, whatever..." Raphael muttered. "I am in need of some serious fresh air."
Raphael reached his destination and slowly lifted the manhole cover. He was ready for a night on the town.
Thanks for the disguise
(Dissapointed? Nope! Good intro!)
Just a few blocks away from Raphael's currentl location, little-miss-no-name was avoiding the main streets as much as possible. She all ready knew where she was but... this confused her even more! Passing an old suvenier shop, she stopped to see what they had: Lots of Statue of liberty paraphenalia, pictures of the Empire statebuilding, Broadway musical tee-shirts and pictures of the World Trade Center. Wait, didn't eh WTC collapse after some attack? She wasn't sure any more, then again, she didn't even know what day it was.
With a sigh, she went on her way, turning into an empty alley way. She needed a disguise, what if some one saw her?
"I... see yoooo." hummed a voice wet with liquire. She turned and stared at the drunken man, "I see yooo all... *hic* I know what you are... *hic* I know that man is *hic* not alone."
'Buddy, man is alone,' she thought, standing to face him fully. 'Women ule the earth.'
"Yoo Aleeeins wull loose," He hickupped again, reaching into his ragged pockets, "Startin' wit' yoo."
'Yeah, too bad I'm not an alien.' She wanted to reply; but in truth, she wasn't so sure. She told herself to stay relaxed because that was what Major Reyes would do. Who was Major Reyes? She wanted to kick herself, here she was thinking of all these people she respected and yet she had no earthly clue who they were!
The drunken man stood up after much struggle, something cecealed in his hand. "Die Aleeeein!" He sputtered taking a loose swing at her.
She didn't even register what she did until after she noted that the man was on the ground, realing with pain while she held his wrist at on Ackward angle. One more inch this way and... snap!
Oooh, she bet that hurt.
'You diserve it, dick head.' She thought and kicked him once in the head thuroughly knocking him out, 'But thanks for the disguise.'
Jade Green 10-02-2002 09:42 AM
Donning on the drunken man's ragged trench coat, (which luckily only smelled like beer), she took a few other items from the man that she thought might help her: His sandles, his switch blade, the two dollars she found crumpled up in his pocket, his old fedora hat. She decided to be nice and let him keep the rest of his, the night air was cool and it felt like autumn; but she could have been wrong. It was possible that what felt like an Autumn's Night to her was actually a New York Summer's Night, or maybe it was some time in spring. She wasn't too sure.
Her 'look' completely, she left, turning down another less populated street fearing that she might, despite her new outfit, still cause a disruption to the 'locals'.
Enter Jessie
Jessie Town propped her feet up on a milk crate, the one with the "Original Art For Sale" sign propped up in front, and leaned back in her chair. The art student daughter, however illegitimate, of an obscenely wealthy businessman definitely had its advantages. She didn't have to worry about rent, or any of those other "necessities". Hell, she even got allowance, and all for keeping quiet about who her father was.
Still, she thought as she watched people pass by her little "shop", there was just something about selling artwork on a street corner that she liked. She liked showing off her work, and knowing that people liked it enough to buy something was a great feeling. They weren't the originals, just prints, but still signed, and she'd hear people walking away saying things like "This'll probably be worth millions someday." or "I could say I brought her work before she was famous!"
She smirked to herself and watched her potential customers from behind mirrored glasses.
OOC: Short bio: Jessie Town, 20 year old art student, daughter of (shhh, this is a secret) David Xanatos. Living off her father, she has no need to really work, and therefore has more freedoms than most. This has led to an insatiable desire for excitement and adventure and the unusual. She is quite closed off and doesn't let people get close. She doesn't like complex emotions and prefers to delude herself into thinking she doesn't have them. She's a 3D character trying to be 2D.
(( Thanks! :D Just a quick question... It's night time, right? ))
Raphael continued walking, his head down, his anger burning. He passed by a few stores here and there, and he ignored any strange noises coming from the dark allies. He was in no mood to get into any trouble... At least not until he had a soothing mug of beer.
He came to his destination: a rundown looking place, with dirty windows and a faded sign that read "Allison's." Raphael paused and turned around, making sure no one was following him. He took a deep breath and opened the door. It was dimly lit inside, round tables were scattered throughout the tiny bar. Three men sat in one corner, playing a poker game, while a man at another table was busily getting a prostitute drunk. Raphael frowned at the scene, but a voice suddenly caught his attention.
"So, back for more, eh?" A brunette in her late thirties watched Raphael from behind a counter. Her eyes had a hint of amusement, and she smirked while cleaning a tall glass. "The last time you were here, you broke some of my furniture, and you beat some of my customers to a bloody pulp."
"I told ya I'd pay you back, Al," Raphael responded, as he took a seat at the counter.
Allison never liked that nickname Raphael had given her, but he'd been a regular at the bar for almost a year and a half. She knew that he wasn't human, but she didn't care. As long as he paid the bill.
"Yeah? And when's that gonna happen?" She eyed him warily.
"You can put it on my tab for tonight. Now be a nice girl and get me a beer, will ya?"
Allison sighed and shook her head. Raphael was never one to talk much. She poured him a mug of MGD, and handed it over to him. He silently sipped at his drink, while his thoughts wandered through the fields of his mind.
Colorblind Art
((Yeah, its night, but New York is a city that never sleeps))
She smirked to herself and watched her potential customers from behind mirrored glasses.
Being lost in deep thought and walking at the same time is a dangerous combination. She barely noticed the two ladies walking her way gabbering on about some lovely piece of art work, nor did she notice Jessie Town until she nearly tumbled over the woman's legs.
She quickly backed up, relieved that she still had her hat on and stared at the human woman. Jessie Town stared back up at her but she couldn't exactly read Jessie's expression due to her glasses. She surpessed a moan as she saw her own reflection for the first time through Jessie's glasses. Taking another step back, she muttered a barely audible 'Sorry', and something that sounded like, 'admirable artwork' and walked on.
((Little-miss-no-name has one pale blue eye and one deep red eye. Her skin is in link with my name a pale Jade Green... but I don't know if Jessie would know that.))
Kali 10-03-2002 09:33 AM
Jessie sat up quickly and removed her glasses to get a better look at the person who had nearly tripped over her. But the person was leaving at too quick a pace, and was soon too far for Jessie to follow and still keep her work in site.
"Hey Jess, how's business?"
Jessie turned around. "Hey Mikey, how's it going?"
The mutant turtle grinned. "Ah, ah, I asked first."
Jessie kept looking after the departing figure. "Okay, few of your sketches sold." She pulled a few bills out of her pocket and handed them over to Michaelangelo.
"Thanks. As for me, I'm fine now that I've got some extra spending cash. Wanna go for pizza?"
"No thanks. Hey, Mike, how many other are there like you?"
Mike paused in the middle of counting his money. Jessie usually didn't ask personal questions like that, that was part of the reason he did business with her, she didn't seem to care about what he was. "Um, why do you ask?"
"Someone with green skin just tripped over me."
Mike's jaw dropped. "You sure? Maybe you should stop wearing those glasses at night."
"Well, they weren't human, that's for sure. Had the strangest eyes, two different colors. Kinda pretty."
Mike let out a breath, it wasn't one of his brothers then. "Which way did they go?"
Jessie pointed and Mike said goodbye with a tip of his hat. Jessie watched him go, wishing she could tag along. Just as she considered shutting up shop for the night, another customer approached and started haggling.
Jade Green 10-03-2002 09:50 AM
It was becoming more and more frustrating for little-miss-no-name to stay on the more empty streets; so the term 'the city that never sleeps' DID fit New York to a T. A bit too well if you asked her. She stopped momentarily at a cross walk of 23rd and Houston determining which way to go. There was a Papa John's Pizza on the other side of Houston and a bar of some sort across the other street called Allison's; not that any of that really mattered, at least not to her. Finally, she crossed 23rd street, walking towards Allison's.
Wait... you could tell from how it was unraviling on who I was?!? Geeze, is that a good thing? OR a bad thing?))
azure turtle 10-03-2002 10:22 PM
(( LOL!! I see HT figured out Jade's identity without any hints... ;) ))
Raphael finished his mug of beer. He watched as tiny bubbles sunk back to the bottom of the glass. Suddenly, the sound of screaming caught his attention. Raphael whirled around to see the man trying to take advantage of the prostitute. The poor girl was wasted, but she tried in vain to fight off his advances. Gritting his teeth, Raphael stood up and walked over to the table. The other three men stopped playing poker to watch the inevitable fight scene.
"Not again..." Allison groaned. "Don't you dare break any of my furniture this time, tough guy!"
Raphael grunted in response before grinning madly at the shocked man. "I think the lady wants you to stop." Raphael cracked his knuckles. The man quivered in fear.
"W-wait, I paid for her services!! She needs to keep her end of the bargain!" The man continued searching for an excuse. "Besides, she's nothing but trash. Why do you care?"
Raphael came dangerously close to the man. "I don't care. I just know that the world would be better without scum like you around."
The man stared back in fear, finally realizing that Raphael was no ordinary man. "Y...You're a freak!!" The man lashed out at the turtle, but Raphael easily side-stepped the attack.
"Finally... I get to have a little fun around here." Raphael smiled as he approached the horrified man.
Jade Green 10-03-2002 10:50 PM
She jumped slightly as she heard a scream inside Allison's and quickly assumed that some woman had been stupid enough to actually let herself become volunerable to some man... She may not have fully known what her real name was, (Robin? Sandra? Aeval? all of those names sounded so familiar, but so did Heather, Morigan, Dianne, Maranda and Crixa), or where she was from, (New York? Texas? Alabama? Maybe she was from California or Conecticut in stead), but she did know that she was never let herself be a victem to any man--human or turtle or whatever--if she could help it.
She doddled another second contemplating on wheather it was a good idea to go in and check to see if the woman inside was all right or not. Why not? She WAS thirsty after all and maybe the bartender wouldn't mind giving her a glass of tap water or something.
The first thing she heard as she walked in was: "I just know that the world would be better without scum like you around," and then, "Y... You're a freak!"
Her attention was immediatly brought to the situation at hand just in time to see a drunk of a man attempt to hit another less visable one only to fail pitifully.
Quote:
"Finally... I get to have a little fun around here." Raphael smiled as he approached the horrified man.
She saw the woman who must have screamed back away in horror and harrumphed. A hooker, no wonder; she'll just let the suppossed 'freak', (it unerved her how people would use such an atrocious word so freely; but in some cases it was a valid description. Case in point: her), handle it.
Now ignoring the brawl, she turned her attentions to the barkeep, "Scuze me ma'am, if it wouldn't be too much trouble could ya give a homeless gal a glass o' watter?"
azure turtle 10-03-2002 11:13 PM
Allison was distraced by the fight going on, and she hoped dearly that Raphael wouldn't break anything expensive. A few seconds later, she realized that she had a new customer. "Huh...? Oh, sorry. Water, right? No problem." Allison poured the mysterious customer a glass of water. Under the dim light, it was hard for her to see the stranger's features, but Allison managed to catch something odd. What the...? Her eyes are different colors... Before Allison could analyze the stranger any further, a loud crash caught her attention.
"Damn it Raph!" Allison yelled. "That chair was new!!"
"Sorry, Al. Put it on my tab." Raphael grabbed the moaning drunkard, and gave him one final knee to the midsection. The man fell over, unconscious. The other three men sitting in the corner gave each other odd looks, then shrugged. They continued their poker game. The prostitute rushed over to Raphael and clung to his arm.
"Thanks, you're a doll. That guy was a real slimeball... So, should I give you your reward?? I know a nice place downtown..." The girl swayed back and forth, and she giggled uncontrollably.
Raphael pried her off his arm. "No thanks. Why don't you do yourself a favor and quit hanging around the streets? Then 'slimeballs' like him won't pick you up." Raphael grunted before sitting back down at the bar, a few seats away from the mysterious stranger. The prostitute slunk down to her knees before finally passing out on the floor.
"Great... I've got two unconscious people in my bar, not to mention a broken chair." Allison sighed and rolled her eyes at Raphael. "Thanks a lot."
"Don't mention it. How 'bout another beer before I leave you in peace?" Raphael winked.
Allison through her hands up in the air. "Fine, whatever. But you're bill is gonna cover all the damage you've done. I hope you have enough money."
Raphael grinned. "Don't worry 'bout it. I gotcha covered."
Jade Green 10-03-2002 11:56 PM
She must have looked like some kid sitting on that stool as she stared down at her water, her feet didn't even touch the floor as she sat there. She had estimated herself to be no taller than five feet or less and this really didn't help matters; but as she sat there, ideas began to flow; ideas on how to find out about her past, ideas on-...
...pay for that... Funny, where did that come from? It sounded so malicious and vengeful and it didn't sound like any of her thoughts.
The men who had been playing poker then caught her eye, they were glowering at Mr. Hero vicously. She tightened the grip on her glass as they stood up and... headed for the door.
Later, her own actions would surprise her, she would have never thought of herself as one to act so quickly; but then again, look what she had done to the homeless man when he tried to kill her for being an 'alieeeen'.
Water splashed over the would be attackers.
"Argh! Bitch!" the closest snarled, advancing on her.
She replied by slipping from her seat and crash! the mug smashed squarely on the man's forehead.
The water had momentarily slowed the one with the knife, but it sure as hell didn't stop him. While one of his partners learned what it was like to have several shards of glass suddenly imbed themselves in his face, he and the third continued their attack on Raph.
HorseTechie 10-04-2002 10:49 AM
(( *snigger* I RP with ya for 2 years, Aveal, and you don't think I can detect your quirks by now? :P Hrmm.. yeah, I'll play Ryan here too - same BG as posted. And Leo on the side. ))
A police car terwked its siren outside while the lights flashed to annonce it's presence. Someone else didn't like how this fight was escalding and had called the police. "Strange freaks causing trouble" was the report. Who knows what thay could mean.
Ryan and his partner Loyd entered the bar with badges and night sticks ready to break up whatever disturbance was at hand. "Everyone, please cease and decist! Anyone who wishes to disregard our orders will be put under arrest!" Loyd barked into a megaphone at the sprawl.
azure turtle 10-04-2002 04:32 PM
As the two police officers burst into the bar, Raphael quickly took his seat once more. Nearby, the two men who tried to attack him were on the ground, face first. The turtle sipped his beer calmly, while Allison struggled to come up with an explanation for the five unconscious people in her bar.
Damn it... Allison frowned. I wonder who called the cops this time around.
Jade Green 10-04-2002 04:53 PM
The one that the 'little kid' had taken care of was bent over the floor cradling his bloodied face a few feet before her while she slowly backed against the wall trying to think of some way to slip by the two peace officers and out the door.
...maybe if I tell them... the voice was yet again not her own, but she didn't bother to look around to find out who had actually said it she had more important things to concern herself about.
HorseTechie 10-04-2002 06:39 PM
Loyd, being the superior cop of the two, recognized the owner over behind the bar. This wasn't the first time he came there to break up a fight either.
"I'll check these guys... on the floor," Ryan said to Loyd, but he also noticed the child - unusual looking child with a guilty look on it's face - trying to slip by. "Hey... no one can leave until we clear you," he told the 'kid', when he caught sight of the dark green face with a pair of unique eyes.
Loyd surveyed the area while going to the bar. He made note of the injured and wondered who's to blame this time. At least the conscious remained innocent until proven guilty. "So... what happened this time?" the well built African-American cop asked Allison. ((geez, I'm making up this guy as I go))
