Was TMNT1 really pefect?

It seems like we just can't fault TMNT1 and it seems like everything about it really was perfect. The characterizations, the fighting, the script, the music, the score, the acting (and voice acting), the puppets, the mood...

I'm trying to find a fault with this movie but I just can't. The only thing I do find wrong is that we've yet to see a director's cut version or even deleted scenes on the DVD releases, which I find ridiculous. But the actual movie as it is, I can't find anything wrong with it no matter how hard I think or try to.

Am I just a totally biased die hard? Or are there TMNT fans out there who DO find a few flaws in TMNT 1? If so, what do you think they are? Was is it about the movie that bugs you?

It should've been longer...

heretic888 05-25-2004 12:48 PM

hrmm

Since we're talking about a concept as idiotic as "perfection" anyway...

It all really comes down to one's standards.

Personally, I would have preferred if they made Mike more like his Mirage persona like they did with EVERY OTHER character in the movie. The pizza obsession and surger lingo were also kind of annoying.

Then again, I'm a Mike fan and a Mirage enthusiast. Go figger.

There are small mistakes in it...like seeing the actors hand in the skateboard scene.

Deathknight 05-25-2004 01:09 PM

Well, no movie is perfect. TMNT 1 was my favorite but it did have some flaws.

Orochi Chimera 05-25-2004 01:35 PM

Nothing is perfect. I guess it's more of an opinion rather than fact though if something is perfect or not. It was a good movie.

Raphael stumbled when he was taking April to the lair.

PizzaPower 05-25-2004 02:24 PM

umm.. I like the 2nd movie if that counts.

Aztec General 05-25-2004 02:45 PM

The flaws that I found:

1) Mikey's pizza obsession and surfer lingo (although it could have been a lot worse)
2) Too much comedy during some of the more serious fight scenes (April's Apartment)
3) The Foot should have been more deadly and threatening than just a bunch of thieves. By this I mean the actual Foot ninjas, not the punk teens who they took advantage of.
4) Donatello's technical abilities were only hinted at and never shown. They also didn't delve into his scientific knowledge.

Otherwise this movie was a great adaptation of the Mirage comics, with some minor adjustments.

host_punktmy 05-25-2004 02:47 PM

um a fault with tmnt1? i don't know of any

ZariusTwo 05-25-2004 03:47 PM

Why would anyone want to waste thier time finding something wrong with one of the greatest films ever made?

Yeah, I didn't much like that, either. And, er, I thought the costume for Don coulda been a bit better... but that's just my opinion. Mostly the faces, anyway, but I would have liked a cross between the first movie costumes and the second.

I love this movie, but, yeah. It has it's flaws...

Me too. :)

Considering the low budget of the movie with the exception of the costumes, it's still one of my all time favs. I agree with Mikey's character being too SoCal while the others were more true to the comics, but I was very attached to toon Mikey when I first saw it so it didn't bother me. I dream of someday seeing the whole thing uncut on a special edition DVD. C'mon Mr. Laird, please please please!

Buslady 05-25-2004 09:05 PM

I'ts as close to being perfect as we'll get. I think there should have been MORE emotion, it started out with tons of it then it peetered out with getting the story going....

for the record...not enough Raph! hahaahaa

Mike is NOT SoCal...he's corny. We don't talk like that here.

Watching closely, I also noticed April's head banged against the sewer wall, or slightly brushed past it as he turned a corner. That probably must have hurt!

K, Sakura, I'm a little confused by what you're wanting to know. Are you trying to find a fault that's a movie goof or are you trying to find a fault of the movie itself? Or...both? I mean, there's faults that were unintentional, but to many people, the movie is like Mary Poppins. Practically perfect in every way. Boy, that was dumb of me. :D

Er... wasn't it a dummy when Raph was carrying her for most of the scene? Correct me if I'm wrong...

I think he was looking for actual faults. Not goofs.
