I apologize if you didn't find the joke funny. I'm just bitter about the new cartoon not being what I thought it would. Oh well. In time, all things pass...including the things we like.

I'm right there with you when you say this new cartoon isn't what you thought it would be. But let's give it a chance, okay? It's not fair to judge something before it even comes out.

There is always the chance that this new cartoon will be a runaway hit. Stranger things have happened, believe me!

I don't know about the rest of you, but I'm going to watch just for the fact that it has the TMNT label on it.

red sky eps?

The "Red Sky" episodes were aired for three seasons: 1994-1996. This marked a turning point in the cartoon.

The show went from being light and goofy to dark and edgy. There were no more pizza references. Starting in 1995, Shredder and Krang and Bebop and Rocksteady - pretty much anything that made the show what it was - were thrown out the window and a new bad guy was brought in.

The show developed a science-fiction theme. The Turtles got a partner, a human named Carter, to help them fight the alien invasion against Dregg and his minions.

A new theme brought to the show was the Turtles' unstable mutations. They would mutate into larger, stronger (though not smarter and definitely more clumsy) Turtles than when they were normal.

Not many fans think too highly of these years. There were some okay episodes during this time, but too many things were changed. The lack of any humor, no Shredder, no Technodrome, no pizza, no wonderful side characters.

It was pretty much the cartoon's death sentence.

The reason people refer to these episodes as the "Red Sky" episodes is because the sky was, indeed, red during these episodes. I guess it was supposed to be symbolic and establish a darker mood for the show.

Never again did a bright sunny day shine down on the show. Literally.

There was a quote by Splinter in the very last episode of the cartoon that went:

"Sensei means 'leader' or 'guide'. But you know longer need a guide." He was making reference to the fact that the Turtles had just defeated Dregg and that they had finally achieved what they set out to do.

No more Shredder. No more Dregg. End of cartoon.

Until now. Splinter will be in the new cartoon, don't worry!

As i have stated before, I will probably like those seasons because i heard that the action is back. Most of guus here seems to like the the eralier comedy seasons better. From the start TMNT has been action orientated and i think that it was bad idea to kill the action...

i really liked the first of the red sky seasons.... but the new mutation story arch was interesting, too.....

Wll im starting euro season tomorrow. After that i can finally watch the red sky eps.

I liked those episodes, for the most part, too. I only got to see "Turtle Trek" once, and I don't even remember what it looked like. It's one of my favorite episodes, simply because it's pretty much the official end of the Shredder-Krang-Bebop-Rocksteady-Technodrome era.

Then they brought in Dregg.

And he was no Shredder.

Leonardo: "Where are they, Dregg?"
Dregg: "Who?"
Michaelangelo: "You know! Your bogus alien buds?"
Dregg: "There's no one here except me."

Deathknight has said over and over again that the European episodes are from 1992 and NOT 1993. I believe him because he is so adament about it.

I don't own any of them so I couldn't tell you for sure. But he says they are from 1992.

So there you have it.
