Coming Out Of Their Shells

I don't know where this belongs so I placed it on the General TMNT board.

Anyhoo, I just want to know what you guys thought of the old musical tour that occurred a while back called, "Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Coming Out of Their Shells Tour".

Did you like it? Did you hate it? Did you think it was a good idea or a bad one? Did you buy the soundtrack? Should they re-release the video and/or soundtrack?

What do you think?

It's so corny, it makes a laugh fest! :D
Shredder had a dumb costume and he sings in one song that's solely his own called "I Hate Music!" I don't understand why Shredder's song wasn't placed on the soundtrack especially since the whole show revolved around his hating music and wanted it destroyed worldwide. Shredder even made Baxter build a machine for him to throw record disks in and they burst out of hoses, held by Foot Soldiers, as confetti to shower over the audience. One of those records happened to be New Kids on the Block if my memory serves me right!

Then there's the male reporter who takes April's place once she's kidnapped. He has to go to the basement where the Turtles fled. The Turtles are trying to figure out a plan but don't figure one out fast enough to please the reporter so he thinks they are being cowardly and calls them "weenies" which gets them all riled up!

It was pretty good, it stayed true to the original cartoon series,

The "Coming out of thier Shells" song is the only worthwhile one, check it out on X-Entertainment.com

There have been a dozen threads about this. But yeah, it's so horrible that it's funny. Splinter's head was so damn huge, and it sounded like Neil Diamond dubbed his singing.

KROW 06-21-2004 06:02 PM

Yeah, I didn't know about the other threads, though. I'm sorry about that.

But I found it kind of ironic that Shredder sings a song about hating music. Even when I was little I sported a furrowed forehead in confusion to that. I liked it, though. I even liked when he acted all Don Rickles on the kids during intermission.

And I agree that his song should have been on the soundtrack.

Although my favorite song was "Pizza Power". And not because it was featured in the Turtles in Time arcade/video game.

it was really bad i mean i just couldnt take the way shredder looked

Ryona 06-21-2004 06:18 PM

 The whole publicity stunt (I call it a stunt because you would have to be high to put on such a show) was silly, rediculous and degrading for the TMNT. On top of that, half the songs are lame. The other songs are ok (like "Cowabunga" and "Pizza Power").

Sadako*sCranes 06-21-2004 06:27 PM

My favorite song was "Count on Us"!

My brother bought me The Making of TMNT coming out of their shells for Christmas. We had a really good laugh at that. The video features the Turtles "preparing" for their upcoming concert. Raph and Mike just throw surf jargon at each other.
"Wow, Mikey, like, how about this stuff?"
"Whoa, Cowabunga Raph!"
"Yeah, Radical Dude!"
"Yeah, Awesome!"
"Hey, Tubular!"

Something like that. It's a pretty good laugh. I bet Laird's head would melt if he saw it.

KROW 06-21-2004 08:53 PM

You've got the Making Of...? I've never seen that. Do you still have it?

Aaron 06-21-2004 09:05 PM

I've never seen it. I saw it for sale in a used video store a few months ago though.

KROW 06-21-2004 09:10 PM

Really? Where?

Orochi Chimera 06-21-2004 09:27 PM

I haven't seen any of the live action videos(except for the movies). The costumes look weird from the images I have seen of them.

TheRATKING 06-21-2004 09:30 PM

you didnt miss much :P

Zachatello00 06-21-2004 09:41 PM

I've still got it. There's a goodwill tag on it, so it could originaly have come from anywhere.

Ashangelo 06-21-2004 09:52 PM

I have the tape, making of, and the soundtrack :tlol: I like it despite the silliness of it all. I love the songs, they amuse me. Actually I just listened to the soundtrack today heh.

KROW 06-21-2004 10:00 PM

I love the corniness of it. But I agree with RATKING what he says to anyone who didn't see it. There really wasn't anything to...KROW about.

Sorry, couldn't help it.
