Why do the Ninja Action Turtles Figures have tails?

The Ninja Turtles don't have tails in the show, and the other turtle figures don't have tails, so why do the Ninja Action Turtle figures have tails?

cqb101 06-23-2004 06:00 PM

Because they're rehashes of vintage figs, and they had tails.

I remember when they first came out years ago, I wonder why they had tails to begin with though?

Check all the old turtle figures had tails

I didn't know that they rehashed TMNT figures. That's the biggest complaint in the Star Wars collecting society. Hasbro is imfamous for rehashing.

The reason they had tails is because they're suppose to be based on the Mirage Studio TMNT. Their whole appearance screamed Mirage!
They have got to be one of my most favorite line of TMNT action figures.

Yep. I can't wait to get the new ones and repaint them all into Mirage TMNT.

Actually the body was pretty much just a gimmick, didn't look too much like mirage, it was the old school head that made it look very mirage. They're replacing the heads with the new tmnt heads so the new ninja action have pretty much nothing to do with the old mirage turtles.

Damn. Looks like I'm heading to ebay to get the old ones.

-->> ..i just hope they work better..like the guys are claimin' ..they may be rehashes..but if they work well ..it'll be worth it to me.. the old Ninja Action figs are awsome to look at.. i really like the styling of 'em.. but i can only get one of them to 'flip'.. the Don one.. none of them ever really worked right.. if these new ones do.. it'll be fun.

..yeh those Action turtles have tails are filled with green- goodness..

I have no idea what figures you are talking about. I dont remember any of them having tails. does anyone have pictures or know where I might aquire these figures.

tmntman 06-28-2004 04:57 PM

You can see pictures of the originals at my site. If you look, the tips of the tails are barely visible

No, no they didn't. The only ones with tails, that I recall, are the Mutatin' line (pre-trucks and other crap), and these.

The reason for the omission of tails in the 'Toon TMNT (old and new), and most of the figures, are that to parents they look like penises, as Tokka pointed out ;).

Wes 06-28-2004 09:57 PM

Ha! Yeah, back when I was younger and drew pics of the TMNT, I remember getting some odd looks and asked, "Uhh... what is that?" when I drew the Turtles with tails. Also, it's worth noting that real turtles' penises are located inside their tails...

(Pssst, tOkKa, that's your cue to supply us with the appropriate graphic.)

the hell--??? so that's why in the Mirage comics I bought their tails were always sticking straight up whenever April or Renet were in the room.
