I have a few, there's also Mikey's TMNT which had some last I checked. Other than that, I suggest you try Googling for them.

Those of you familiar with KC and Samus's Totally Tubular TMNT Site may get a kick out of this sound file page I placed on my site.

Of course the best way to get sound clips is to capture them yourself, just like I do

Here's what you can do:

- If your sound card supports it (which mine does), set it to record any and all wave input. Play the ep you know the clip you want is in and have a sound recording program set up in the background. Record roughly when it gets to the point you're looking for, edit afterwards, and VOILA!

- If that's not a viable option, there's a program out there called TMPEG that can (while it's not its main function) extract only the sound from a video file. Unfortunately, it has to extract ALL of the sound from it, so you'll have to either know beforehand at what point the clip you want begins or sit and listen for it until it comes up in your sound editor program and then edit it. No matter where it is, sadly, it'll take up a lot of memory when you chop off the huge chunks of uneeded sound that come before or after the clip you want. But hey, it works nonetheless.

- Of course, if either of those two options is too complicated for you to do at the moment, a surefire way to record the clips you want is to use the old-fashioned external-microphone-put-up-against-computer-speakers method. However, this is a rather unrecommended method as doing so will inevitably result in a poor quality sound cap. Use this only as a last resort, I say.

The first time I sent in sound clips to this site (mine are the ones marked with a "5" superscript) I used the second method, and my original intention wasn't to send them in to the TD but to get clips for this DOOM 2 TMNT mod that EOS and I are working on right now (before he joined, of course). Soon after that I discovered that my SB Live! sound card could record directly from the wave input, resulting in a 100% exact sounding clip with no loss of quality or volume and NO static. Anybody who's heard my recent clips will know what I'm talking about; the only reason the quality is a tad low is because Krang had to lower it for them to save web space. I guess that means I'll have to start encoding my clips into MP3s now so that I can reduce the file size without losing quality

That would normally be a good idea, but our host has no tolerance for any kind of MP3s if we can't prove that we hold the copyright for them, so I would have to convert them back to WAV again... You could encode them directly into ADPCM or IMA ADPCM to reduce file size without much quality loss, though.

In that case, I'm not worried about quality loss that much; they still sound pretty good for the most part as they are.

Just a personal belief, however: while I perfectly understand what you mean, I find a difference in posting copyrighted that's been commercially sold by itself and posting copyrighted material that's NOT commercially sold by itself but was captured independently. Here's what I mean: there're no tracks from any of the soundtrack albums on here because those were sold as CDs, which makes perfect sense. However, the sound clips posted on here from the episodes were never sold solely as sound, so there might be small loophole there.

Speaking of loopholes, unless my teacher was telling me a bunch of lies in my Multimedia class junior year, it is not against current copyright law to have many of the sound clips on the sound clip page. Copyright law specifically states that usage of copyrighted material is within public domain IF the sample used is 10% or 30 seconds of the entire work, whichever is less. For argument's sake, let's say that every episode of TMNT is 30 minutes long. The math goes like this:

30 min. * 60 sec. = 1800 seconds
1800 sec. / 10 = 180 seconds

Therefore, the 30 second stipulation would be the legal choice to use. A majority of the clips on the sound clips page are 30 seconds or less (I intentionally made mine of those length for that reason), so they are within the legal boundaries of copyright law. The only ones I can think of that are more than 30 seconds are the theme songs (which I consider separate from the episodes themselves) and the longer clip that Knuckles sent in. The ending theme clip on the page also goes out of bounds, as like the opening themes I consider to be separate from the eps themselves, and I don't think 2.8 seconds of sound is worth it...

I think your web host should be aware of this fact. I'm trying to say that it's not the format that should matter (for copyright purposes, anyway), it's the length. We might have to take a few clips down because of it, but that should be a sacrifice worth making in order to keep the site from falling into the hands of the law and also to be more tolerant of MP3 submissions that come from the episodes.

I definitely agree with you, but if our host sees a directory full of MP3s, they will most likely delete the files and possibly our entire account. They've never contacted me personally about MP3s, but this is their policy on them:
Quote:
Usually the rule of thumb is if you didn't write, record or create the music then it is not yours to distribute.
The problem is with the MP3 format itself and not the fact that the sound clips could be considered copyrighted. I'm sure they've seen this site before, and they've never had a problem with us offering WAV files for download. If I converted them to MP3s, I would need to have a letter of permission from Artisan or Fred Wolf Films before they would even consider allowing me to keep them. Our host is a pretty big company, so I doubt there's anything I can do to get them to change their policy.

Is that so? Well, apparently your host needs to get a bit of sense beaten into them, as if my last post wasn't enough to convince them...

I personally don't see how going from one format to another all of sudden makes it copyright infringement. If your host was truly adherent to the law, it would be strict on all sound clips, WAV format included, for the reason I stated above. It doesn't matter if it's raw sound waves or digital sound, it's still using copyrighted material. A rose by any other name is still a rose, metaphorically speaking. So why should the format matter? I could record my own voice via Windows Sound Recorder, save it as PCM, and then encode it into an MP3. Does that change the fact that the sound is my own voice? No. I could then reverse the process by decoding the MP3 back into a WAV file, thereby bloating the file size to about 10 times that of the MP3. Does THAT change the fact that sound is my voice? No, but there may be a slight loss of quality, that's it. So therefore whatever format the sound clip is in does change the fact that it's still copyrighted material.

I'm not trying to convince you to accept MP3 submissions, Krang, I'm just openly saying that I think that kind of policy is extremely flawed by ANY web host (including mine) and should rethought.

BTW, would sending an MP3 of a TMNT-related song that some friends and I made (an original one, not a remake or anything) be acceptable by your host?

Yes, I agree. I don't think it's fair either to consider almost all MP3s illegal, but unfortunately, that's how almost every host thinks, and there's no way to change that because of the negative reputation that the MP3 format has. To me, though, it's not worth it to fight the policy and risk losing our host when I can just use another format, even though the quality will be a little lower.

Yes, if you composed it, I can host the MP3 of it, just like we're hosting another MP3 of cartoon music that a contributor composed.

*Heavy sigh* that took some time. I got 167 sound wavs for you! Hoo Ahh!!! Good stuff, the quality isn't the best, but it's pretty good. They are all polished up so that there is no fat on the edges. I'm not sure how to get them to you, emails may be anoying. I can put umm on a CD and send it in the mail. All I ask in return is that you give "Flaming Turtle Production," (thats me) and of corse the respective owners of the show, credit. I would also lie to see any final products you create with them, a ninja turtles mix sounds awsome. Since I did all this work I prob will try to get them up to the public on a web page or something, but that will take time. Any way let me know.
