You know i was thinking Scratch looks alot like the cat mutant who was part of The Uncanny Trio in Archie Comics. They were a cool group there was three of them. One was a crow, an owl and a cat. They didn't have any names i don't think. They should have came back.

A Mutant Crow, owl & cat? AWESOME!

Do you have a picture of those characters from the Archie comic book? They would have made awesome toys- there was not enough flying mutants in the toyline, they needed a few more then the 3 they had. That, & a mutant Crow & Owl would have been SICK to see.

Maybe they based the figure off of him? It's not impossible, they used Chote from the original Mirage TMNT series to make the Shogun Shoate figure & he wasn't even the same character as the toy. Scratch does come with a sidekick figure called "Jail Bird", maybe thats sapposed to be that crow from the Uncanny Trio?

Damn you Playmates for makeing the last cool bad guys for TMNT so damn hard to find!!!

I know I can never get Scratch, but I'd at least like to get Shogun Shoate. And if not him, Gatekeeper Rocksteady, and thats only because I plan on using him as a different mutant Rhino called "Gatecrasher". It could work too, he hardly looks like the first Rocksteady figure, the feet are different, the build of the entire body is alot different too. That, & he has 4 fingers as apposed to the 5 fingers that Rocksteady did. So he could pass for a new character if no one knew he was a variant of Rocksteady. I mean, look at the pictures!:

Gatekeeper Rocksteady

Look at the hand on thef left side of the picture, you can see only 3 knuckles equalling only 3 fingers & a thumb. Also, notice the bottom of the package- you can see his non-human shaped foot. This Rocksteady looks more like a Rhino, who became human-like, then a human who became rhino-like, right?

Original 88' Rocksteady

Look at the hand on the left side of this picture- you can see 4 fingers! Four fingers, not 3. And check our his feet- no way in hell this Rocksteady could have feet like Gatkeeper Rocksteady & squeeze them into those boots.

They could SO pass for different characters, easily.

...and once again I've rambled off topic. D'oh! Sorry 'bout that guys.

Cool!

I could see a little bit of the Crow on the bottom right corner of the cover. They look very cool.

Actually, they wouldn't be the first mutants never made into figures that were in Archie Comics. The Chameleon guy is another one of them.

I'd definitely want a Shogun Shoate/Chote for my turtle collection, but I'd only be willing to pay like 15-20 bucks for one. That's probably impossible unfortunately. I wouldn't mind not having a Hot Spot or Scratch figure. I could live without 'em.

Up until last year, I owned a scratch figure (still in package). Several years ago I won him in an auction for $90. Last year I sold him for more than twice that. I've actually seen him listed in price guides for over $300!!

I had no idea that those other figures were rare also. I still have Hot Spot, Half-Court, Shogun Shoate and most of the other figures that were made for the TMNT toyline (all out of their packages of course... I had to have some playtime ).

Yeah, most of the later-released non-TMNT characters are veeery hard to find. I think Mona Lisa, Sandstorm & Halfcourt were marginally easy to find, , Hot Spot was quasi-hard to find, while Scratch & Shogun Shoate were pretty impossible to locate. So hard to locate they were, that I never even knew of their existence until 6 years ago- & I was was a hardcore TMNT figure collector too. Well, I did stop right after getting Halfcourt, so I never got the others (don't recall seeing them ever either).

Speaking of eBay purchases, I just got a Playmates 1996 Dealer Catalog that I won on eBay in the mail today! It shows the 10th Aniversary TMNT figures, Muta Force, Turtle in a Turtle (but action figures of the 4 turtles that open up into little playsets), The Savage Dragon figures, Coil Force, & some deluxe Mini Mutants playsets. They also talk about the TMNT 4 movie, but don't show any figures or stuff (most likely cause the movie never made it that far).

They also show Earthworm Jim figures, Includeing 8 figures that were never made! In case anyone would like to know, here's the 8 figures never produced for EWJ (I like the Hamstinator myself):

Professor Monkey-for-a-Head: "Mad Scientist & President of the Monkey Club for Men!"

Copterhead Jim: "The Head Spinning Daring Defender of the Earth!"

Queen Slug-For-A-Butt: "Here Name Says It All!"

Hamstinator: "The Fluffy Cute Cheek Crammin' Hero!"

Samurai Jim: "The Culturally Cool Defender of the Earth!"

And 3 figures weren't even shown in prototype form, they were just drawings. I guess these 3 will NEVER get re-made, at least the above 5 had a chance as they were prototypes, but these next 3 guys never made it past the conceptual art stage. Pitty, Evil EWJ looked kinda cool:

Evil Earthworm Jim: "Enemy of the Earth, the Cosmos and Everything Else!"

Extendo-Arm Jim: "The Extra Long Reaching Daring Defender of the Earth!"

Chuck & Fifi: "One Smells Like Garbage and One Eats Garbage!"

Man...Playmates really likes their puny character descriptions, huh? If these figures were in scale with TMNT, no one would probably even be able to tell the difference.

If anyone wants me to scan in pictures of some of this stuff, just lemme know & I'll see what I can do.

Snailman: Playmates actually made several unproduced figures although to my knowledge they are turtles variants. Along with some vehicles one of which I actually own! The sidewalk surfer...(if you want to see what it looks like its on the tmnt toy section of the official site under 92 I think.

For all your shoate/scratch wishers...I have 2 loose shoates and 2 loose scratches and one of them is complete. The best part is I only paid (if you divide costs like $2 a figure) It took years to find them but if you look through LOTS of tmnt figure auctions its not that uncommon to find a rare one once in a while mixed in with really large lots of figures, you can always take extras and sell them off. In addition to that flea markets can be really good I got one shoate and 3 ecto glow ghostbusters for $2 each there.
