Could be Hun and Casey's' dad are related. Hun could be Sid's father. Maybe that's the key. Maybe together they were the original purple dragons.

See that's where my questions/problems start to come in with Hun being Casey's dad. If he does end up working for the Shredder does it never get revealed to him by Casey or the Turtles that Shredder nearly killed his son?! Does the blonde hair disguise him so the Turtles and Casey won't recognize him?

A lot of things still up in the air with Hun. I think one of the future solicitations says that sides are changing quickly in the battle for the city, so maybe Hun is Casey's dad, unbeknownst to Shredder and Hun pledges the Purple Dragon's allegiance to help the Foot and sometime during the arc he finds out that Shredder stabbed Casey and he turns on the Foot

If the idea was to make Casey's dad into Hun all along I don't know why they made him a terrible fighter and a drunken slob. Raph took him down already in issue 2, so why would he suddenly get so strong?

Hell, Splinter had his way with him too

That's why I prefer the idea of Hun being his dad's brother instead, rather than Hun actually being his dad. So that would make Hun into Casey's uncle, which would work better.

We'll soon find out what's what, but here's my two cents: I think anyone that doubts Casey's dad and Hun are one and the same are in denial.

Or maybe I'm just too hopeful? I always hated Hun in the 4Kids cartoon (never saw what he was like in Mirage since I didn't really get into volume 4), but from everything I've seen of Casey's dad so far in IDW, I'd say having him be Hun would be a HUGE improvement on Hun, who in 4Kids seemed like a boring and bland character to me.

Again, though... just my two cents.

Why did you hate 4kids Hun? He was one of the most well handled villains of the show.

Eh, I know he got some development later on, but he always just seemed so... uninteresting to me. Maybe it was me being bitter about him seeming like a replacement for Tatsu, so I could be biased. I will say that I like the prospect of him not being subservient to Shredder, though. It feels like I might enjoy his character more that way.

1. The body types don't match up. Casey's Dad is a drunken slob with a beer gut and is totally out of shape. Hun is a muscle-bound, well-toned and fit man who looks like he's been working out for his entire life. Even ignoring the blonde hair, how can someone change their body that much in a short amount of time? Even using comic book logic it would be poor writing.

2. Casey's Dad is a bad father, but I never saw him as a true villain. Isn't Hun supposed to be a master criminal? Why would Casey's Dad go from drinking himself silly to become a criminal/killer? We even saw him check on Casey in the hospital bed feeling sorry for him.
1. Hun might not be that muscular this time. I still think he looks so young on that cover that it's gonna be a flashback issue to when he used to 'run things' back in the day.

2. Maybe Hun won't be completely evil this time and form some kind of vigilantee anti-drug force. The Purple Dragons in this comics are already kinda/sorta like that. They're not exactly an evil street gang.

Stop sayin what is and isn't supposed to be. This is an all-new version. The Turtles weren't reincarnated Japanese children and Bebop and Rocksteady weren't working for Karai.

And who in the hell said Hun will be working for the Shredder? If anything the Purple Dragons will be against the Foot and the Savate as well.

I can't really see what role Hun would play if he's not a villain. We already have Angel as a good Purple Dragon character, why add another? Hun being a villain is what would set him apart.

How bout you let the IDW guys worry about that? I'm sure if you were told a few months in advance, you'd also say 'I don't see how the Turtles being reincarnated kids would work'.

Perhaps the Dragons need proper organization only he can provide. Perhaps he will inspire them to really crack down and take the streets. Perhaps this is the start of the journey that will make him fix things with Casey. Maybe he's the one that takes down Victor. There's a million ways it can go with him being an anti-hero rather than an all-out villain. Think outside the box.

I have another question. What's with Mikey's stupid buck teeth? Could he look anymore like a damn child?

Bobby, in terms of their ages when they were killed prior to reincarnation, how old is each Turtle, exactly?

Co-signed.

The Mirage version didn't differ much in concept, by the way. Scarier, but still the same generic tough-guy-thug archetype.

Hun is the best right hand man Shredder had. I love Tatsu but he has no character to speak of, and Chris Bradford isn't much better.

Aside from Karai, Hun makes the most sense as Shredder's second in command now. We also see how Karai and Alopex are starting to get fed up with Shredder so it seems like there's going to be an opening for Hun.

Why? Because it's not the characters' good/evil alignment what counts, but the personality and traits they have, and the story the writer wants to tell them with.

Btw, Casey's dad already had a beef with Raph and Splinter, and now the Foot almost killed his son, since he started to hang out with the turtles, That's a good reason for Hundaddy to hate both factions.
And seriously, he don't have to take over the world, and eat all the baby-kittens alive, to turn him into an antagonistic character in the story.

He can also fight, although he was wasted, he had the upperhand against Raphael, when they first met, but Raph got "saved by the shell".

To be fair, I didn't exactly get a lot of time to push him into the territory he was going into.

My thoughts on the whole Hun/Casey's dad thing? Identity protection.

Really doubt hun is gonna work for Shredder in this version. Stop basing stuff on what came before. This is all new. How many times must we say this?

He may not work for Shredder, but its rather obvious he's going to be a villain regardless.
