TMNT is probably the biggest it's been since it was originally big. So I can't say I agree that the movie will attract "mostly older people."

I honestly have no clue what kids think of Guardians, but I know the TMNT cartoon is a hit, and you can find tumbleweeds in the TMNT toy section in December.

Honestly, as someone who started reading Guardians of the Galaxy comics, I still don't see the hook of this movie. The spaceships and technology don't stand out as cool or interesting, and the trailers just shows people shoot a lot. They don't even tell you what they're up against.

And if they wanna draw kids, they should show Rocket say or do something funny. I laugh out loud at some of the stuff he does in the comics. Why are they trying to make him look like a badass?

And no i meant excluding the cartoon kids would probably choose TMNT over guardians, because TMNT isn't as unknown as Guardians, only thing attracting kids to guardians is Rocket and Groot, two anthropomorphics TMNT has 4 anthropomorphic animals,

Seriously. Teaser debuted on tv and was a huge hit. Everybody was talking about it and was excited for it.

Also: GotG has almost 100,000 more likes on Facebook than the TMNT movie.

Doesn't necessarily mean anything re: the box office, but there's clearly a lot of interest/excitement around Guardians.

My thoughts as well. Only draw for me is the raccoon; everything else seems lame and dull imo.

Yeah Rocket is pretty much the only reason I want to see this movie; Well in terms of the movie in general, nothing else about it really grabs my attention.

It also has a really good marketing campaign that's managed to get people excited about a concept and cast of characters that are quite obscure. And personally, I really want that to count for something.

Ideally, the hard work involved in making a good product and selling it in a fun way should pay off, shouldn't it? I don't want every media property's success completely guided by simple brand recognition - I want something new or untested to break through and keep things interesting. GotG is part of a popular brand in the Marvel series, but it's also quite removed from the core of that, and I think it stands to opens up a wider potential for not just the Marvel movies, but also comic/genre movies in general.

TMNT has more concentrated marketing, The reason i post here is because i want to support TMNT, ala Has Guardians of the Galaxy already won August, thread title says it all, and hating guardians and posting here is not the same as hating the new TMNT Movie and posting in threads that have TMNT 2014 fans, this thread is supposed to be a thread where you discuss if TMNT or guardians will dominate august.

And again the reason why i post here even though i'm annoyed is so i can state why guardians imo will lose august and hopefully flop.
