Classic Ninja Turtles DVD plan idea

Here are two very different TMNT DVD plans I thought up. I'd do exact seasons, but TMNT was never really great at keeping their seasons all at a similar length.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Dream Plan

A three volume set for everything without a lot of extra content, but EVERY has every episode intact.

Volume 1:
Seasons 1 - 3
Length: 65 episodes
Episodes: 1 - 65
Number of Discs: 8 episode discs and 1 bonus material disc

Volume 2:
Seasons 4 - 5
Length: 60 episodes (there is no episode 72)
Episodes: 66 - 127
Number of Discs: 7 episode discs and 1 bonus material disc

Volume 3:
Seasons 6 - 10
Length: 67 episodes
Episodes: 128 - 194
Number of Discs: 8 episode discs and 1 bonus material disc

Total Collection is 26 discs (23 episode discs and 3 bonus material discs)
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Much more likely because DVD publishers love our hard earned cash...

A 10 Volume plan...

Volume: 1
Seasons 1 - 2
Length: 18 episodes
Episode #: 1 - 18

Volume: 2
Season 3 Part 1
Length: 24 episodes
Episode #: 19 - 42

Volume: 3
Season 3 Part 2
Length: 23 episodes
Episode #: 43 - 65

Volume: 4
Season 4 Part 1
Length: 20 episodes
Episode #: 66 - 86 (there is no episode 72)

Volume: 5
Season 4 Part 2
Length: 19 episodes
Episode #: 87 - 105

Volume: 6
Season 5
Length: 22 episodes
Episode #: 106 - 127

Volume: 7
Season 6
Length: 16 episodes
Episode #: 128 - 143

Volume: 8
Vaction in Europe
Length: 13 episodes
Episode #: 142 - 156

Volume: 9
Season 7
Length: 14 episodes
Episode #: 157 - 170

Volume: 10
Seasons 8 - 10
Lenghth: 24 episodes (every single "red sky" episode)
Episode #: 171 - 194
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Actually I would much rather have them done in seasons sets, and a more likely tihng to be done would be something like the trasnformers dvd sets. For seasons like season 3 they would have a part 1 and part 2. Anyways, I believe that would be best, but that's just my opinon.

I like the idea of putting seasons 1 and 2 together since the first season only consisted of 5 episodes. But I think cramming all three 80s seasons would be abit much. I bet that would cost you $80

Yeah, but for the die hard fan it would be perfect.

Certainly seasons 1 and 2 should be together, but seasons 3 and 4 are so big that you'd probably need to seperate them into 2 half like Transformers. The last three seasons are really short as well so I could see them being in one boxset which we could all call the "red sky" boxset, but I doubt Artisan would ever call it that. Basically what I said on the "more likely" plan. Read above if you only checked out the "dream plan".

Well we're getting the Epic Begins unless Artisan gets their act together.

I mean after the first incredibly lame yet somehow collectible release of "The Epic Begins".

They could do them in seasons sets. But it would be kind of werid since you would have one volume with 5 episodes and one with 47.

I just hope they don't do what they did with Gi Joe. They released the 2 mini series on DVD (which are just VHS re-releases) and then instead of releasing POD or any other episodes they made a special edition.

A season by season would be fine for me. The season with only 5 episodes, they could include a lot of extras. Hell, I just WANT the DVD, I could care less if there were any extras at ALL.

Agreed. I just want them on DVD I frankly don't care about the rest. I just want a good deal and most if not all the episodes.

I still stand by what I said earlier. They should release the entire series in one fell swoop, rather than by doing it seasonally. If the studio releases individual seasons, two things come to mind:

1. It will take forever. That's pretty evident.
2. If done seasonally, the studio may not print all 10 seasons. Sales through previous seasons might not do well enough on their own, and the studio goes, "Well, geez. There's no interest here. Oh, well. Screw the project then."

At least if the episodes are released all it once, we are guaranteed that. Will it be a little pricey? Maybe. But I've got three words for you:

GET A JOB.

Everybody does.

"You can't! Being a Ninja Turtle is a full-time job!"
"Besides, you don't know how to do anything."

Agreed. An entire series box set would be sensational. But can you imagine how many freak'n discs that would be.

If they did that they'd only need one disc of bonus content though.

Something like that would range to be at least 200 dollars, but hey I'm game! I'd save up that much for TMNT in it's entirety!

10 frickin seasons on one set!? thats insane!

1 regular season is 4 discs!

40 discs?! fox ain't got that much confidence in TMNT

if it takes half a year to release a season of futurama it'll take my whole life time for fox to make a 40 disc set....

Are you complaining about not having shelf space for all of those discs? 40 discs is nothing when you compare it to the Star Trek crap that I've bought since January of last year. Star Trek: The Next Generation Seasons 1-7 and Star Trek: Deep Space Nine Seasons 1-3. That is 68 discs. That's not even counting the other movies and series I picked up, AND the remaining 4 seasons AND Star Trek: Voyager next year. So I don't think it's beyond Fox's grasp to do like Paramount.

As far as them releasing the original cartoon in season sets, each set should be priced at no more than 40 or 50 bucks with extras, 30 or 40 without. All 85 Robotech episodes plus extras cost a total of approximately 240 bucks, spread out across 21 discs. One would think that the old TMNT series would go for a similar pricing scheme.

I think that 2 seasons should be in each set. I have all of the episodes on discs but they can only be played on my computer.

Like DK said, now it seems we are getting "Epic Begins". They should release the whole first season but right now it doesn't seem to happen.

I don't see that happening, NTCF. Besides, I don't think everyone would be able to afford the entire TMNT series in one set, and Artisan probably wouldn't make many copies of them, anyway. Not a bad idea, though.

Unfortunately, unless a snail mail campaign takes place (they do work, not necessarily all the time, though), we'll be stuck with "The Epic Begins". I plan to write to Artisan.

Uh Fox doesn't own the old TMNT. Artisan does...

Their best bet is to release Season One on its' own. Five episodes, plus some extras. Maybe toy commercials and some promo pieces.

A five-episode disc is a perfect way to test the waters for future sets, too. Personally, I'm only really interested in getting the original miniseries on DVD, so if that's what they're doing, I'm happy.
